Welcome to Paris, I am a qualified art historian, but also a multi-award winning professional portrait painter. My work hangs in the US Embassy, Paris, the Légion of Honour Chancellery, international art galleries and private collections worldwide. I have spent my whole life practicing and studying art, from a Masters degree in art history, to the Ecole des Beaux Arts and independent art academies. During my studies I practised my craft as copy artist in the Louvre, a place I love and know by heart. Having taken a very similar path to the generations of artists before me, I feel a special connection with the art I present to my visitors. As well as private museum tours, I also work as Enrichment Speaker on Cruise Lines such as Celebrity, Princess and Cunard. Variety keeps me on my toes! Don't imagine that my very traditional painting style means I disregard modern and contemporary art! I was privileged to learn from descendants of the famous School of Paris and work in one of the last remaining artists studios from that period. I can give insights "from the horses mouth". I am accredited to guide visitors in the new Pinault Collection contemporary art centre as well as Centre Pompidou. We will wander the charming cobbled streets, and if you wish, visit the museum with Renoir's garden and the authentic studio of Suzanne Valadon, artist, muse and model of the greats. As a professional Parisian artist, I have worked in some of the historic ateliers and academies that the artists used and have insider knowledge of the « battle » between the academic artists and the avante-garde. Your Paris tour itinerary
Starting at the foot of the Basilica, we will discover its controversial history. Inside, you will see the largest mosaic of its kind in the world and learn the basilica's place in the hearts of the faithful. Next door we will visit the much older church of St Peter with ancient Roman and Merovingian columns. Through the winding, cobbled streets you will learn the history of this quaint and charming village and follow the steps of its artists, Renoir, Toulouse Lautrec, Van Gogh, Picasso and many more. The museum is optional. See Utrillo's pink house, the tiny but famous cabaret, the Lapin Agile and, finally, the last remaining windmill that inspired so many famous paintings. At the end of the tour, you can continue browsing the busy local shopping street and even the old fabric market. Why not have a coffee in the café of "Amélie Poulain"?
