Bonjour! I am an Italian art historian Parisian at heart and a licensed tour guide in France. I fell in love with Paris a long time ago, when I visited this incredible city for the first time. When I moved here I decided to learn everything about its history, culture, art but also legends, traditions, food, lifestyle, boutiques. . . Who said that Impressionism is only about beautiful paintings of flowers, dancers and river banks? It was a Revolution and visiting the Musee d'Orsay with an art historian is a unique opportunity to truly understand this fascinating art movement. Follow me in this journey into French Art history, from the middle of the 19th Century to the beginning of the 20th, from Academic art to Impressionism and Post Impressionism. We will admire masterpieces by world famous artists like Manet, Monet, Renoir, Degas, Cezanne, Van Gogh, Gauguin and many others and I will share with you plenty of anecdotes about their lives and their art. We will also discover the architectural beauty of the building. It is well known that before being a museum the Musee d'Orsay was a train station, but do you know that one of the most beautiful window in all Paris is in there?
Sara was fabulous. So knowledgeable and took us through the creation of the impressionistic movement. She literally took us step by step through other artists so we could see the first brush strokes of what became impressionism . A very easy person to spend time with ,very relaxed and spoke perfect English with a lovely accent. A wonderful time in the Dorsay. We have visited this museum often and this time was the very best.
Sara was a wonderful guide for our group of 4 at the D'Orsay. We wanted a tour focusing on the highlights of the museum and she deftly guided us through. She was both informative and insightful when talking about the art and we really appreciated her knowledge on the backgrounds of many pieces. She was also very accommodating to our wanting to shorten the tour, so that we could move onto another destination that day. We highly recommend Sara for this tour and any others.
Sara is a wonderful and knowledgeable guide. We loved our time with her at the Musee D’orsay. Her knowledge of the artists and the museum helped us get a new appreciation for the collection. We had been there on our own a number of years ago, but this visit was so much better. We also had a difficult time obtaining tickets to the museum, and Sara was incredibly flexible and kind about changing around the schedule so she could take us on the tour. The private tour of Musee d'Orsay was the 3rd of a 4 tour package I booked with Sara for our recent week in Paris. This was a late afternoon tour. A morning tour of Versailles left half our family too tired to join the museum tour, but my eldest granddaughter and I met up with Sara for our scheduled tour. We explained that we were tired and asked if we could start slowly with beverages in the museum cafeteria. Sara graciously adjusted her plans to accommodate our request. She provided the history of the museum and the significance of its collections as we regained our energy. In addition to interesting and relevant commentary about the art treasures contained in the museum, Sara took us to the famed window clock on the top floor and took pictures of us silhouetted in front of the clock. That photo is one of my most favorite of our week long trip in Paris! Thank you, Sara.
What a great job by Sara. She used the entire time to paint the picture of the history of Impressionism. I’m not sure if she was breathing, but she made it ! We enjoyed how she brought out the humanity of the artists, and how their interactions affected their art. Really fascinating. She knows her stuff, and knows how to explain it to others. Sara was outstanding. We had her as a tour guide at Louvre and then at Orsay. She is so knowledgeable and her background allows her to go into as detailed as we wanted. She also customized the tour to items we wanted to see the most. I would HIGHLY recommend her. She's also very prompt with responding through the website.
