We recommend you let Ereen guide you around the newly opened Egyptian Grand Museum. It has to be one of the most impressive museums in the world in terms of design and the presentation of exhibits. You could spend days here, but Ereen was able to take us around not just the highlights, but some of the quirky little artefacts that we would have missed. Ereen was particularly good at filling in lots of historical and cultural knowledge behind what we were seeing, but not necessarily explained by labelling. Ereen’s knowledge and explanations were invaluable to us. Before taking us to the museum, Ereen fascinated us by showing us the Nilometer which has been used since ancient times to measure the Nile’s annual floods and advise farmers of what crops to plant. It is not a place many tourists visit, but should definitely be on your itinerary on your way to the Grand Museum with Ereen.
