Explore Hurghada your way

At ToursByLocals, we believe that how you explore is just as important as where you go. That’s why every Hurghada tour is private, flexible, and built around you: Move at your own pace, skip the crowds, make connections and follow your curiosity. Find local guides offering private tours in Hurghada for every interest, including:

History tours: Step into El Mina Mosque and the Coptic Church of Saint Shenouda in El Dahar, then see pharaonic and Red Sea artefacts at the Hurghada Museum. If you’re curious to go farther, your guide can take you into the Eastern Desert to the 4th‑century monasteries of St. Anthony and St. Paul.

Day trip tours: Spend a day by boat at Giftun Island or Orange Bay, snorkelling coral gardens and relaxing on sandy shallows between guided reef stops. Prefer ancient sites? A private day trip to Luxor can cover Karnak, the Valley of the Kings, and Hatshepsut’s temple, timed to miss the big coaches.

Food and Drink tours: Taste koshari, hawawshi, and fresh sugarcane juice at family spots around El Dahar, then learn to pick spices like dukkah in the souk. For seafood, choose your catch at El Halaka near the marina and have it grilled to order, with tips on which mezze to pair it with.

Getting around: Hurghada is spread out along the coast, and public transit is limited to informal minibuses, so most areas aren’t easily walkable between them. You can book tours with private transportation or a chauffeured car, and your local guide can handle pickups between resorts, marinas, and the desert.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all itinerary, you can tailor your private tour to match your interests, pace and personality with a local who knows Hurghada inside and out.

Day trip ideas from Hurghada

Use Hurghada as your base and plan a few day trips to nearby cities and nature spots, so you can mix Red Sea time with history, markets, and mellow coastal scenes through flexible tours that match your pace.

- Luxor: See the scale of Karnak and the colour in the Valley of the Kings, then cross the Nile for Hatshepsut’s terraces; your tour can focus on big-name temples, quiet tombs with vivid art, or a walk through local markets if you like a slower break between sites.

- Cairo and Giza: Stand near the Pyramids and the Sphinx, then browse museum highlights that put names and faces to pharaohs; this long day rewards history fans who want iconic photos, deeper context, and time to sample simple street eats around Tahrir or in historic neighbourhoods.

- El Gouna: A short ride north brings you to calm lagoons, marinas, and cafés; it suits you if you like design-forward spaces, easy paddle or kite spots, and a low-key afternoon exploring galleries and waterside promenades without crowds.

- Giftun Island: Clear shallows and coral gardens make an easy snorkel day, with beach time on pale sand and reef stops for beginners and confident swimmers; choose a boat plan that keeps groups small so your tour spends more time in quiet coves where fish life is active.

- Eastern Desert and Red Sea Mountains: Trade the coast for rocky wadis, open horizons, and sunset views across rippled ranges; this is for you if wide landscapes, simple desert tracks, and stargazing feel like a reset, and you want photos that look nothing like the shore only 40 kilometres away.

A private tour with a local guide is the best way to really get to know a place. Skip the crowds, follow your interests, and see a side of Hurghada most travellers miss.
