If you like history, you shoud really try Living History! Joining this tour you will actually get a first hand experience of historical spirit of Zadar. The stories are as good as good are their heros. In this tour you will not have an ordinary guide, but an actual Roman soldier! Full dressed in armour, armed to patrol, to safekeep the streets of Zadar! And the memories of ancient times! You will be shown more than meets the eye to see the full glory of the ancient Colonia Iulia Iader. You will learn who is its parent, but you will also learn stories about the sons and the doughters of Zadar. Learning how old exactly it is! Your guide, an old veteran of the Roman Legion has certanly some war stories to share as well, bringing a personal, indivdual, unique perspective to things. You might be suprised how much of ancient culture still lives around us. Regardless if you are a citizen of the Empire or a Barbarian, I will give you appropriateRoman welcome! All roads lead to Rome. Or do they?!? Veni, Vidi, Vici
At the old Roman gate you will be checked as every other visitor to the city. In order to stay in line with the citiy's rules you will be made familiar with the structures of the city and its complex layers. In only few feet several timelines come together 1 c. BC - 6 c. AD - 12 c. AD - 16 c. AD where different fortification come together, builidng one one the other or copying each other. All roads of the city are based on Roman streets. More or less. Other cultures claimed to be successors of Roman Empire. Did they continue to build on Roman achivements? Simeon, Grisogons and Anastasia are some of the Roman subject that still mark the city lines. The port is still where it was, but how about the shopping center? Or other facilities. The Roman Forum is the place where past and present come together. Even it can be place to meet the future. The temples of the past are the homes of the Muses! As every Roman soldier is due, at the end of our journey we will pass Sirens but face both Jupiter and God of War!
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
