Sinfonia of modern mermaids still call both locals and foreginers alike, and no celebrity or royal head can resist it. You'll need an expert nautica guide to surf on the cloud of mistery carried by the wind of adventure. Across seven seas and over oceania. This is the city of fabled Gold and Silver, of untamed spirit. Where is its safeheaven? Do sailors still worship Athens, Artemis or someone else to protect them? Are they guided or blinded by Aurora Borealis? Zadar does not claime to be founded by survivals of Troy, although the region might have its connections with Odysseys quest. Zadar was seabourn town well before the Greeks set on journey to conquer this emerald-like sea. From the Liburni and Roman times, Viking over medival sails to modern clippers, steamships, cruise and tanker ships Zadar was a star in the European constellation of ports. Be the star explorer of this dream voyage, taste the adventure in harmonia with the nature. A hero enjoying golden Sun setting over the horizon! Sky is the limit?
Zadar today is still importan port, and regardless how or from where you come to Zadar, I will show you the old port and explain its history. Venturing to Zadar Old Town from any corner you will come across the Venetian fortification built in the 16th century. Once a frontier, defending line of Venetian Republic it is today on UNESCO list of world heritage. For our exploration of Zadar history key points are the Land Gate and the Sea Gate! Of course throught city there are scattered and visible Roman ruins, so we will se the ruins of the wall as well as Forum. The Christianity took roots in Zadar early on, so to show the wealth at the peak of its glory Zadar built or renovated few really beautiful that stand to this very day. The money needed to build both walls and churches come frome trade, so we will pass by the city market to check /try some of the local goodies. The sea allowed the trade and the exchange of ideas. It brought the invaders but also progress. Zadar still lives by the sea and of the sea.
