The Vicente Perez Rosales National Park which is part of the Temperate Rain Forests of the Austral Andes it was declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO In 2007, and it was the reason that I stablished myself when I arrive to the region in 1999. Think about that, with 19 years old my university wanted show us something special and characteristic, so Volcanoes, great green landscapes of the surrounding areas was just perfect for us.

We will visit the three main attractions of this National Park: Depending of traffic we may start with Petrohue falls and Todos los Santos Lake, then Osorno Vulcano at the Green Lagoon area, After that we will visit the cozy town of Puerto Varas. Walking around and lunch-time or coffee with "Kuchen" (optional). Later, we will drive back to Puerto Montt, here Angelmó local market is a plus , enjoy local life and take photos of the hand crafts, fruits, and different fish that the people have to offer here. If we are lucky there is a family of Sea Wolfs playing around to amuse you!

As Chile being colonized by Spanish people this region was left behind, so we took advantage of the industrial revolution and as the majority of American Continent, we brought Germans to inhabit the land that nobody wanted to work.

 Arriving to the area of Frutillar we will visit the Colonial Museum compose by 4 houses that shows you how the Land Lords used to live, walking around the Llanquihue lake bay side, which is the second largest in Chile. In Frutillar you will appreciate the "German Influence" in their old houses and gardens. Then, I'll drive you through beautiful Farm route into Puerto Varas. This town is facing to the Volcanoes Osorno, Calbuco and Tronador. Walk, take photos and enjoy their cuisine, here will be a great experience for you!.

We'll continue to Puerto Montt city, capital of the Lake District. We will visit Angelmo Local Market, here i'll guide you to see the local life and help to get your local souvenirs. Back to the pier.

Full day Great Chiloe Island History and Penguins

The first time that I traveled to the Chiloe Island it was with my mom, I remember that she had no money so we had to sleep in one of the church chambers, next day they invited us to have sea snail soup I was 4 or 5 years old, since then I fell in love with the island and their customs, and I can tell you that the real Chilean culture is here!

So let me take you by ferry to the Puñihuil penguin reserve, we will drive trough Ancud a small town but crucial in the history of the region, in an open boat we will drive among these magnificent creatures Magellan and Humboldt penguins, and other sea birds (upon weather conditions). Visit the patrimonial wooden churches museum, the local market, and the last remain fortress that the Spanish soldiers kept under the name of the king of Spain in 1826, before or after this visit. We will have as lunch a local dish called Kuranto that is made like in the old times in a hot stone pit, this event will close our visit and we will head towards your accommodation.

Penguins excursion at National Reserve of Chiloé Island, Patagonia - Chile

We'll depart from your Hotel/Pier and travel through to Chiloé Island. Puñihuil National Reserve is located 102 Km (65 miles One Way); South of Puerto Montt with an eastern coast that faces the Gulf of Ancud and "Bay of Cocotue" where is located "Puñihuil Penguins Colony". Ferry crossing the "Chacao channel". We will drive to Ancud and pass through in the direction to the Penguins Colony: The Humboldt Penguin (Spheniscus humboldti) & Magallanes Penguin (Spheniscus magellanicus). The rocky landscape of volcanic origin, which makes up the three islands. During our motor boat excursion (45 minutes); we will appreciate other species as: Carancas, Cormorants, Quetrus No Volador, Ducks, Sea Otters and other local birds. We will back to Lunch or Ancud town for a photo stop and return to Puerto Montt pier. Seasonal excursion:From September to March. Early disembark is required for all participants.

We begin our local experience, visiting "Presidente Ibañez Market", where you will appreciate the local environment of the local people and their neighborhood around. You will see and experience the local reality of the people who do not appear in the "conventional Guidebooks". This Market, is very popular with a great list of farm products and seafood from small Islands around Puerto Montt. Talk, coffee and "Empanadas" you will find here. After, We'll visit the downtown and take a walk around. Finally, we'll visit Angelmó Art & Craft Market, the largest market in Southern Chile. Here, we will have a delicious lunch with a good "Chilean Wine" in the "Cocinerias" (small local restaurant operating by locals). After lunch, we will enjoy a walk around de Market and get nicer souvenirs. Back to the pier.

We'll depart from the Pier or Hotel and travel through to the skirts of Volcano Osorno or "Pirepillán" in Mapuche language. This National Park is part of the Temperate Rain forests of the Austral Andes and it was declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO In 2007. We drive around LLanquihue lake till Osorno Volcano Ski Refuge "La Burbuja" 1200 masl (3, 937 feet) to make a brief photo stop and hike up. Here you will get spectacular views of the volcanoes, lakes and the valley of Petrohue River. Our 12 Km(8 Miles) hiking excursion takes us along the skirt of the volcano, where we will enjoy the native plants and deep forest around there. Then, we will walk over drier landscape cover by lava flow formed by the oldest eruptions of the Osorno volcano named El Solitario trail. After a couple hours, we will arrive at Petrohue Waterfalls. Visit this area. This is an excellent choice for hikers and photographers. Back to the city, or pier.

I will pick you up at the meeting point according to your information provided. We will drive around to Reloncaví Fjord to the farm. After 40 minutes, we will arrive at the farm "Tierra Viva" located near to the National Park Alerce Andino. We will begin our fun family tour around the Tierra Viva, feeding the animals around, taken photos and enjoy the family time at this great place. After a couple hours, you can enjoy nicer cakes and coffee at the Cafeteria(optional). Photos and snack. We will return for the "Austral highway"; route surrounded by fields, farmer villages, fishing villages in front of the Ocean Pacific. We will make stops along our route for photos.
