San Antonio is one of the most important ports of Chile along with Valparaiso (Unesco world heritage site). In this tour, you will visit one of the best wineries in Casa Blanca or San Antonio wine region where you can do a wine tasting with the best whites and red wines.
On the way, we can make a stop for lunch and also visit one of the Empanadas and pastry factory.
If your cruise arrives in Valparaiso we will visit the city and then we go to Casa Blanca.
If your cruise ship arrives in San Antonio we can visit Lo Abarca, a small town with a special charm and also a famous restaurant that prepares baked pork ribs. Depending on our schedule, on the way, there is another small pottery town call Pomaire to be visited.

Walking tour is a great activity to get in-depth experience of such a city. Main square Sotomayor and pier Prat are both within itinerary. From Valparaiso a short van ride is done to get Vina del Mar kind of Chilean Nice in the Pacific with lovely sandy beaches where a stop is done to take the most panoramic vista of both Vina and Valparaiso. Stop in the fish market if open that day to get in touch with the local fish type and tradition.

Stop to have midday lunch as close as from the ocean as possible. On the way out of Vina del Mar a last stop to admire a very ancient culture in Chile or Rapa Nui from Eastern island where a MOAI or stone sculpture is been placed since early fifties. Drive way back to Santiago late afternoon.

Visiting Valparaíso is a great experience! It's not only Chile's main port, but in the 19th century it was the most important one in South America! Sailors actually called it "the jewel of the pacific".

But how about the name Valparaiso? After crossing the "Cabo de Hornos", the Strait of Magallanes &amp;"Drakes passage", since it felt like arriving to Paradise, sailors used to joke saying "Va al Paraíso" (going to paradise).

Valparaíso &amp;Viña Del Mar are very special to me because my father's family lived many years in Valparaiso after arriving from Croatia, until they moved to Viña del Mar.

Valparaiso is perched among the hills which describe, though people and architecture, the past of the one of the most magnificent harbors in the Heritage site by UNESCO, which resulted in a boom for tourism and culture and the Cultural Capital of Chile, has been an important part of the country's history. It's a large bay with 45 hills around it that have naturally formed a spectacular amphitheater, the sea is the stage and each houses a seat with a panoramic view of the harbor.

Its hills are characterized by their view points, promenades, steep stair and Narrow Street that if they had been formally designed they would not have the magic they have. As if this was not enough, the hills have funiculars, called elevator, that connect ordinary people, from the heights where they live, to the plan where business activity operates in the city. These funiculars were built since year 1883, today they are National Monuments, a many of them are still operating.
