Hi, my name is Peter and I was born and raised in Flanders (fields) Belgium. I am a professional private guide and driver in Belgium since 2014 and was a NCO (1th Sgt) in the Belgian Army/Airborne and for 20 years in the Army reserve. After my active duty, I was a salesman and worked in France and Germany. I am fascinated by military history combined with my collection of military vehicles and armory. In 2014 I started guiding. We pass the following impressive places in Brussels : "the Atomium", the flagship building of Expo58 - the world exhibition which was organised on the territory of Laeken in 1958, has become the very symbol of Brussels. It attracts by its modernist architecture and its panorama on the city. We will drive to "the Royal Castle" in Laken/Brussels, the enormous park surrounding the castle was the result of the combination of various properties and acquisitions over the years. Having hosted some of the most influential people in the world - Napoleon, the Dutch king William I of Orange, etc. - the castle and its grounds were to be the subject of numerous alterations and modifications, such as the construction of the famous Laeken greenhouses. Discover the most impressive Art Nouveau buildings in Brussels, hear about the history of the architectural style from a knowledgeable guide, learn how iron, glass, wood and stone were combined to create this unique style . . .
Peter’s photography skills made our tours special. We had all of the group photos and candidates that we wanted. Peter made sure to document all of the special moments. Peter made both of our tours special and unique based on what we wanted to see and do. His knowledge is and passion for history comes through in his work.
Peter left us all impressed with his wide breadth of knowledge. He seemingly had a story or a tidbit of information for every corner we passed. It was enjoyable to spend time with someone who enjoys history so much and sharing it with others. Peter made our time very special in Antwerp and Brussels. I want to give Peter V. an outstanding rating for our Brussels tour. He checked everything out the day before to make sure all went well. Peter gave us a printed itinerary for each member of our 4 person party. He included all of the sites I wanted to see and made reservations for us to eat at the Atomium. Peter is very well versed in the history of the wars fought in Belgium and talked about Waterloo, WW1& 2. It was an extremely satisfying day and I would recommend him to anyone who wants a thorough tour
