After having studied languages, I immediately embraced tourism. I have guided for several Belgium tour operators for years. That way I gained a lot of experience and still do! It is my passion to help people understand, discover Belgium and love its great cities: their architecture, history and way of living over the centuries and especially Brussels, since 1997 the capital of Europe! I hope to help you discover the city/ies, to take part in the pace of life! I have lived in the center of Brussels until recently, when I moved to a suburban area (in need of a garden!) We'll admire the historical and architectural highlights, be moved by the creations of the famous art masters and join the people in their quest for gourmet specialties, typical pastimes and fun! All historival cities now have multicultural aspects that will surprise you too! Your suggestions and special demands are welcome. We'll travel to Antwerp by train. Once in Anwerp we'll admire the the Belle Epoque central station, the 16th century palaces at the Meir boulevard, several 19th century splendid façades, Art Déco buildings and of course modern architecture. Visit possible of the 16th century Rubens House - now fully renovated -. At the former central grave yard of the city - now an animated square - we access the formidable cathedral for a look into the interior. At the Market Square we'll be impressed by the 16th century Town Hall and so many historical gables. Here we'll see the famous statue of Brabo and the defeated giant. We'll pass by a chocolat atelier and the Diamand Museum on our way to the river Schelde, the Cruise Terminal and the castle Steen. From there we'll walk to the ultramodern MAS. From the panoramic terrace one has a splendid view of the whole city! A walk through 5 centuries!
Erik was a wonderful guide. He knows lots of places that generally most tourist may not know! He took us to the new town hall for the city of Brussel to have a Birdseye view of the city which truly amazing! He can also guide many major European city like Paris, Rome, and Barcelona also!
I am the travel agent who booked this trip... Best thing about having a private guide, is that you can change plans on the fly... clients booked this trip to Antwerp, but following conversation with Erik, they decided to go to Bruges instead, and they said they had a great time!
