Hi, my name is Natalie and I currently live in the lovely historical university town of Leuven but I was born and raised in the Ghent area. I also lived, studied and worked in Brussels for a while. I love them all and I can't wait to show you all of my hometowns and more! During my many years living abroad (Australia, USA, Peru) I've obtained a PhD degree in peace and human rights studies and I've started my own sustainable and alternative tourism enterprise in Peru. I'm back where it all started now in Belgium and excited to show visitors my country and my favorite places. By the way, don't worry, it's not because I can put a 'Dr. ' prefix to my name, that you'll get a boring, factual tour full of dates. I'm also full of stories and I've discovered (thanks to visitors) that I have a good sense of humor and apparently am quite entertaining as well. I am especially focused on unique, authentic and different travel experiences and I always encourage meaningful contacts with the locals. I am especially passionate about social impact tours, off the beaten path experiences but also hidden gems and stories. Because of my educational background, I love to share some general information and background about my home country and I love a good conversation and discussion on any subject. I am very flexible and spare no efforts to make sure you have the best experience possible on your day with me. Your wish is my command or rather my challenge to develop a great personalized experience and to make sure you learn something valuable and of course that you have a great time. I hope to see you on your visit to Belgium! PhD in International Studies (Peace and Conflict Studies, Human Rights) Expert and Researcher of Responsible Tourism and Social Impact Tours Near Native Level of English (lived in Australia and US, PhD from the UK) Conversational Level of Spanish (lived in Peru) Masters Degree in Germanic Languages (English/Dutch) Masters Degree in Journalism Seasoned Traveler I guide tours in Dutch and English, I don't (yet) in Spanish, French or German but I do have a good conversational level of these languages. I drive a rather small car so I can only take 3 passengers. For larger groups I will need to rent a larger van.

Overview of your Brussels tour

Not many historical figures capture our imagination as Napoleon Bonaparte does. Let me start by debunking a persistent myth; the Little Corporal was actually not little at all, that image was created by English caricaturists. Napoleon won many battles during his career but as always, history is written by the victors and Napoleon's most famous battle is now one of the few he lost: The Battle of Waterloo, his last one. Near the town of Waterloo, just south of Brussels, visitors can climb the Lion's Mound and learn more about Napoleon and the battle at the modern Waterloo Memorial Museum including 4D movie of the battle and a UNESCO World Heritage panorama painting of the battle. A must-see for anyone intrigued by Napoleon or 19th century battles. Close-by, there is an amazing hidden gem for those who love historical ruins and beautiful places. The Villers-la-Ville Abbey ruins have a long and eventful history but the site is also just beautiful and photogenic. Everyone I've ever taken there left in awe.

My wife and I were very happy with the tour Natalie provided. We had limited time but she managed to get in everything we had hoped to see, and did so with considerable insight, charm, and good humor. After having been on multiple group tours that moved at glacial speed with dull narrations. Natalie was a breath of fresh air, giving us an experience that was our best in the several days, and one of our best ever.

Natalie was not only a wonderful tour guide but a wonderful person to be with as well. Her knowledge of Napoleon and Waterloo brought the event to life. The visitor center at the site is extensive but her insight and commentaries made it much more enjoyable . I can't recommend her highly enough.

What a fantastic day. As a professor of history I was excited to visit Waterloo and it was even better than I hoped it would be. Natalie was charming and informative. She made the day come alive. I was familiar with the battle but seeing the battlefield and listening to Natalie explain the terrain made the day special. Thank you Natalie.

Excellent informative professional tour guide. I highly recommend Natalie. My partner & I both enjoyed every moment ( my partner who isn't into her military history thoroughly enjoyed it ) I learnt a lot from Natalie about the battle & Belgium. The whole day was perfect TBH.
