I was born and raised in Bruges and have spent my life exploring the history, culture and landscapes of this part of Belgium. For many years I’ve had the pleasure of welcoming visitors from around the world and showing them the place I call home. My path to becoming a guide began informally about twenty years ago when I started hosting travellers and couchsurfers. Showing visitors around my city quickly became something I truly enjoyed. In 2015 I opened a small bed & breakfast in the historic centre of Bruges, where conversations with guests over breakfast often turned into walks through the city or suggestions for places to explore. Those daily conversations about what Bruges and the surrounding region have to offer also deepened my own interest in the history of the area. At the same time I developed a growing fascination with how societies develop and how everyday life reflects the history of a place. Over the years I’ve had the chance to guide visitors from many different countries through Bruges and the surrounding region, each bringing their own questions and curiosity. My tours focus on explaining how history shaped the places we see today. I enjoy bringing together historical context, local traditions, food and culture, whether we are walking through Bruges’ medieval streets, exploring the quiet countryside nearby, or discovering places that reflect the wider history of Flanders. Every tour is private and flexible, and I am always happy to adapt the experience to the interests of the people I guide. I look forward to showing you Bruges and the beautiful region of Flanders, sharing a beer or eating some local delicacies together!

Beer has been part of everyday life in Bruges for centuries. In the Middle Ages the city counted well over a hundred breweries, and beer was often safer to drink than water. Walking through historic streets and canals, we explore how brewing shaped the city’s economy, politics and daily life. During this relaxed private walk we follow the story of Bruges beer from medieval gruit taxes and merchant trade to the revival of traditional brewing today. Along the way we visit historic Bruges breweries for tastings and discover how different Belgian beer styles developed. I have lived in Bruges my entire life and have been guiding visitors here for over a decade. The tour concludes at Tripel B, the bed & breakfast I founded and have hosted for more than ten years, where we finish with a tasting of a rare Trappist beer in a private setting.
Below is an example of how the afternoon may unfold. The exact pace can vary depending on your interests, the weather, and how long we linger over a good beer. - Walplein - intro to Bruges' rich brewing past - First beer at a historic Bruges brewery - Gruuthuse - story of medieval beer taxes - Second beer at a traditional Bruges brewery - Final Trappist tasting at Tripel B in a private setting This is a private tour, so the experience can easily be adapted to your interests. We meet at Walplein, a small historic square beside Brouwerij De Halve Maan, Bruges’ last remaining city brewery. It is an ideal starting point to begin our exploration of the city’s brewing traditions.
