I was born and raised in Bruges and have spent my life exploring the history, culture and landscapes of this part of Belgium. For many years I’ve had the pleasure of welcoming visitors from around the world and showing them the place I call home. My path to becoming a guide began informally about twenty years ago when I started hosting travellers and couchsurfers. Showing visitors around my city quickly became something I truly enjoyed. In 2015 I opened a small bed & breakfast in the historic centre of Bruges, where conversations with guests over breakfast often turned into walks through the city or suggestions for places to explore. Those daily conversations about what Bruges and the surrounding region have to offer also deepened my own interest in the history of the area. At the same time I developed a growing fascination with how societies develop and how everyday life reflects the history of a place. Over the years I’ve had the chance to guide visitors from many different countries through Bruges and the surrounding region, each bringing their own questions and curiosity. My tours focus on explaining how history shaped the places we see today. I enjoy bringing together historical context, local traditions, food and culture, whether we are walking through Bruges’ medieval streets, exploring the quiet countryside nearby, or discovering places that reflect the wider history of Flanders. Every tour is private and flexible, and I am always happy to adapt the experience to the interests of the people I guide. I look forward to showing you Bruges and the beautiful region of Flanders, sharing a beer or eating some local delicacies together!

Bruges looks like a fairytale, but its beauty was forged by trade, power and everyday life in the Middle Ages. Born and raised here, I guide you beyond the postcard highlights to quiet courtyards and hidden corners. You’ll learn how Bruges became a European trading hub, how religion and social rules shaped daily life, and how care for the sick, the poor and travelers was organized. Along the way we enjoy two tastings: artisanal Belgian chocolate and a locally brewed beer. We don’t just taste—we uncover the craftsmanship and the stories behind them. Private, relaxed and fully adaptable
Below is the typical route for this tour, carefully designed to combine Bruges’ most important historic landmarks with quieter hidden corners that reveal another side of the city. The pace of the walk is relaxed and allows plenty of time for storytelling, questions and photography. Along the way we will also stop for a chocolate tasting and finish with a local beer in one of Bruges’ historic breweries. - Market Square & Belfry Tower - Chocolate tasting - Old St. John's Hospital - Beguinage - Godshuizen - Hof Arents & Bonifacius Bridge - Gruuthuuse Palace - Dijver Canal - Rozenhoedkaai - Huidenvettersplein - Burg Square - Brewery Because this is a private tour, the itinerary can always be adapted to your interests. If you prefer to focus more on history, architecture, food culture or hidden places, I will happily adjust the experience. The beer tasting can also be replaced with a boatride or waffle sampling.
