Hello World ! Belgium Calling ! I am Peter and Belgium is my home. Over 40 years I traveled professionally as a Tour Conductor with groups to destinations all over the world. Amazed about the beauty of each destination I had the pleasure of visiting. Privileged I had the chance to get acquainted to friends world wide. Every time I came back to my home country I was both frustrated and impressed by our tiny country. Frustrated because so few people in the world seem to know us and Belgians seem to be the worst anti-chauvinists. Impressed by its beauty, its wonderful historic cities, its nature and its culture and heritage. I retired from my job in tourism in June 2019 and am now a full time guide. I am an official City Guide in Antwerp. Brussels, Ghent, Bruges and our beautiful rivers (as a guide on river cruises) came next on the list. Flanders Fields (WWI) and Bastogne (WWII) are often visited by my guests. I want to share my knowledge and passion for Belgium to all of those whom I guide. Apart from my experience as a tour guide and a city guide I am also a specialist in Belgian Beers - the Belgian Beer Culture is a Unesco heritage - and I had the pleasure of attending courses at the Callebaut Chocolate Academy. Let me share my knowledge of my country on your next visit. A regular tour can be booked here but I prefer to work tailor made. I can offer either walking tours or driving/guide you around in my luxury Van seating 5 passengers. This private tour will start with me welcoming you at the Zeebruges Cruise terminal. Walking tour through the historic center of the Bruges : Our Lady Church , with the Michelangelo statue : Madonna with child (movie "The Monuments Men") The Market square with its impressive Belfry and medieval guilt houses. The Burg Square with the Holy Blood Chapel, the stunning beauty of the Gothic Hall at the City Hall. The oasis of silence of the Beguinage and ending at the romantic" Lake of love" with the impressive swans. Our tour will continue with a 30 minute drive from Bruges and we will start our walking tour in the historic center of Ghent with its famous 3 towers: the Belfry, the St Nicolas church and St Bavo's cathedral. Here you can admire the most famous Masterwork of the Flemish Primitives : the Adoration of Mystic Lamb. (called the altar piece in the movie "movie The Monuments Men). Lastly, we will enjoy a 40 minute boat trip which will show you most of the highlights. Return to your ship late afternoon
A lovely way to see Bruges and Ghent in a more personal way. The pickup at our Brussels hotel was easy as was the return. The walking tour of Bruges was excellent filled with history, art, culture and humor. We enjoyed a nice lunch, some shopping and excellent chocolates. The boat tour in Ghent was fun and informative. Unfortunately, we were late arriving and had to cut the rest of the tour short - Peter had more to show and tell us.
We had a great day with Peter. He was very accommodating in picking us up at our Hotel in Antwerp and was easy to communicate with prior to our tour . Enjoyed his great sense of humor and easy going nature . Great flow to our day in Bruges and Ghent . Enjoyed our beer break in Bruges and waffles along the canal in Ghent . Thank you Peter !!!
Fantastic tour with Peter. He is very knowledgeable, easy to understand, social and flexible. He offered suggestions and alternatives during our tour. We thoroughly enjoyed both Bruges and Ghent. Excellent introduction to both cities, culture and history. Would definitely recommend him.
Peter did a great job. He first knew we had an early start and started Brugge with warm coffee in a quiet cafe with our background briefing. He knew Brugge well, made sure we saw the Brugge Madonna, scheduled a lovely lunch, the on to Ghent and The Illuminati of the Lamb triptych. The three of us said it was one of the highlights of our trip. He paced it well?
Peter is a fantastic guide! We had a wonderful day with him in Ghent and Bruges. His van is specious and accommodating. Peter took extra care of our family with mobility issues. We had a great day, and he made sure we saw all of the sights. He exposed us to local traditions like waffles and local beer. Peter is very knowledgeable of the history of Belgium and inlcuded lots of little interesting thoughts on history and culture. We would highly recommend him!
