Hi, My name is Jan. I was born and raised in the Bruges region to an American mother. I grew up with the best of both worlds on each side of the Atlantic. I started guiding at a very young age. As I started to assume the role of the 'family historian', I was expected to show visiting family from the US around my medieval hometown, all the while connecting the local history to the world stage. From there, my passion grew and guiding took on a life of itself. I've been guiding at a professional level for almost 9 years, having completed a 3-year guiding course to become an 'official' (licensed) city guide along the way. Through the years I've become an 'all-rounder' on each of my tours ranging from diving into history and art history; to showing our culinary/food culture (beer, waffles; chocolate and local dishes), to exposing the medieval origin of common English words, to sharing popular anecdotes, all explained with a humorous twist. I look forward to showing you around my hometown. - Bachelor Degree - Major in Political and Social Sciences; Minor in History - Masters Degree - Latin American Studies - Official Guide of Bruges Diploma/License - EHBO (First Aid for Accidents) - Certificate - Driver's license since 2006. I have my own sedan car.

Avoid all the hassle and confusion of getting a slow shuttle, train or costly taxi to get into the heart of medieval Bruges from the port. I will pick you up at the Cruise Terminal in my private station wagon sedan and we'll head into Medieval Bruges to explore all the highlights by foot or car depending on the mobility of the group. The walking tour will last about 2.5 - 3 hours during which we'll have a chocolate tasting, followed by lunch (optional) at a local restaurant to enjoy local Belgian dishes (Flemish Stew, Mussels and fries, Rabbit, Shrimp croquettes or a Dover Sole) or just a nice Belgian Beer (optional). A world famous canal boat tour can also be arranged depending on the timing of the ship's departure. After seeing all the highlights (see itinerary), I will drop you back off at the Cruise Terminal in time
- Cruise Terminal - Sea-Bruges - Market Square (main) Medieval Bruges - Chocolate taste (world famous Chocolate line) - Gruuthuse Palace - Church of our Lady - Old St-johns hospital - Beguinage (convent) - Lake of love (swans) - Half moon Brewery - Chocolate taste (Pur Chocolat) - Old red light district - Bridge of love - Groeninghe museum. - Rosary quay (most photographed corner in Bruges) - picturesque Leathertanners square - Saving the best untill last the Burg Square (old counts chapel) - Lunch at either Duc de Bourgogne or Cambrinus (expenses not included) depending on one's preferences. - Optional: Canal boat tour (30min) - Cruise drop-off (4 people max)
