Servus in Wien! Travelling and exploring cultures is one of my passions and I always search the contact with locals. For me this is the most authentic way to understand a culture, to be part of it, even if it is for a short time. This private hiking tour is for travelers, who would like to get a local experience, enjoy activities in the fresh air and see another very authentic aspect of Vienna. On this three hour hike (medium difficulty) I will take you to the slopes of the Vienna Woods and through the vineyards with a beautiful view over the river Danube and Vienna. I will make you have a unique experience off the beaten track. A sense of humour complements my narrative, helping to ensure a fun hike. Vienna is the only European capital which cultivates wine within its boundaries and the vineyards are part of the city's landscape on the slopes of the Vienna Woods. You will learn about the wine growing in this area and at the end of the hike you will have the possibility to taste the local wine and food in one of the Heurigen in Grinzing.
Highly recommend this tour, which allows you to get out of the city centre and work off some of those calories after delighting in yummy Viennese pastries. The fabulous views afforded from the top of the hill are worth the effort. Marietta was knowledgeable and professional. We had a great time.

This felt like a mini-escape from the city into the woods. It was very hot when we were in Vienna and Marietta changed the time and level to accommodate our concerns. We saw beautiful views of Vienna and enjoyed the shade and beauty of the forest. Marieta also recommended an excellent heuriger, which turned out to be one of our favorite meals.
Highly recommended! We had an amazing time touring the Vienna Woods with Marieta! She was so knowledgeable and we learned about the area and Viennese history. Our trip to the woods wouldn't have been nearly as enjoyable or interesting if we'd tried to navigate it ourselves - thank you Marieta!
This was a great hike. It was beautiful and Marieta was very knowledgeable about everything - the vineyards, the churches, the history of Vienna, the current Vienna. We loved every minute of the tour. If you want to do something out of the common tourist areas this is the tour for you.
Superb afternoon with Marieta! Very well planned itinerary, starting with easy public transit to get to the start of our walk. Route exactly fit the description, with some route alternatives available if needed. Beautiful day as we walked down the vineyards (in the middle of National Wine Hike Day!) to a heuriger in Grinzing. Tasting and dinner seated outside in a shaded courtyard as part of an extension arranged when we booked. Marieta is a great guide, and a lovely person. Highly recommend!
We walk first on a rather steep but paved footpath until we reach the top (Leopoldsberg) from where we will have a good view over Vienna and the majestic abbey of Klosterneuburg, a place, connected with the early period of the Austrian duchy. We continue to walk on a comfortable path through the forest to the next hill - Kahlenberg. Then we start descending among the hilly vineyards and end the tour in Grinzing, Vienna's best-known "wine village", dotted with rustic restaurants - "Heuriger", where the wine producers of the region sell their wine. I can adapt the itinerary to light difficulty, if necessary.
