Getting to know the former imperial city of Vienna and today's capital of Austria individually and personally tailored to you—this is my goal as your licensed guide and local expert in Vienna! My name is Martha. Although I was born in Upper Austria, I quickly discovered my love for Vienna. After graduating from university in Vienna, I knew I wanted to make this unique city my home. Vienna has it all: impressive and scenic squares, secret alleys, countless art collections in our museums, world-class music, beautiful architecture, and a rich cultural heritage. Before starting my career as a tour guide and running my one-woman agency in Vienna, I lived and worked in many other countries. The travel experiences I've gained from these wonderful journeys form the basis for my flexible and intuitive approach to individual tours. In 2009, I started my own business focusing on personalized tours and cultural programs for small groups, aiming to share what truly fascinates me about Vienna. This city offers an incredible quality of life, seamlessly blending the traditions of the past with the vibrancy of modern life. I believe that travel can be so much more than just a business trip or a sightseeing tour. It’s an opportunity to immerse yourself in Austrian culture, experience Vienna's past and present, and enjoy the city's unique art scenes and delightful experiences. As a local guide living in Vienna, it is important for me to engage in meaningful dialogue with my guests. I prioritize answering questions about the current situation in Austria and discussing contemporary issues affecting Vienna. By fostering this exchange, I aim to provide a more enriching and insightful experience for my visitors. I strive to stay informed about local developments and trends to ensure that I can offer accurate and up-to-date information. My goal is to create a welcoming and interactive environment where guests feel comfortable exploring and understanding the unique aspects of Vienna. I have been a licensed Austria Guide since 2001. I completed the extensive two-year course and passed the exam to become a licensed Austria Guide right away. Please note that I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle, or I can arrange for a separate car and driver. Please let me know in advance, if you want to book a car and driver in addition to my tours. I am very much looking forward to hearing from you!

Overview of your Vienna tour

Vienna had the largest German speaking Jewish Community, over 10% of the population was Jewish, until 1938! The Nazis destroyed flourishing lives of highly assimilated families, patrons of all arts and numerous charity institutions and as well ten thousands of orthodox jews . Most Viennese Jews lived and again live in Leopoldstadt (district 2). This is also my neighbourhood. Jewish history has always been near and dear to my heart since High school. As a tourist guide in Vienna I see it as my responsibility to focus on this topic and learn more about it each day. Vienna would not be the city it is today without it's Jewish population! Especially the decades around 1900 with the Zuckerkandls, Gallias, Lederers and many others supporting artists like Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele, with music by Mahler and Schönberg, physicians like Sigmund Freud, Alfred Adler and Viktor Frankl, writers like Stefan Zweig and Arthur Schnitzler living and working in this city. The list seems to be endless. . .

We had a thoroughly enjoyable morning with Martha. Even though we had been to Vienna a number of times we learned a great deal about the pre-war Jewish history and of course the holocaust. She was very familiar with the present Jewish Community and shared a number of stories with us. Highly recommended

Marth is an excellent tour guide! She gears the tours to what you want to see. She is completely immersed in the history of Vienna, and can weave in and out of the city with ease, explaining how everything ties together. We had taken Vienna unveiled and the Jewish Tour Vienna. She essentially created a 2 day tour that melded both itineraries, and quickly learned what we were interested in hearing more about, and which items we could cover quickly. I would highly recommend hiring Martha for your trip to Vienna.

Martha’s Jewish Tour of Vienna was exceptional. My husband and I have gone on many Jewish tours in European cities, and this was the best. Her deep personal interest and passion about Vienna’s history were evident throughout. Martha shared history, cultural references, and reflections in an engaging and compelling manner. Reflections of past experiences of Jews in Vienna, efforts to overcome historic inequities, and perspective on today’s Jewish culture in Vienna offered valuable insights. She was attentive to our interests. It was a thoughtful, moving, and enlightening tour. We highly recommend Martha.

Martha T was terrific! We combined a Vienna City and Jewish Heritage tour into one. Martha T. is a lovely lady and very knowledgeable and taught us a lot about Jewish life in Vienna before and after WWII and showed us many wonderful sights in the city. We highly recommend touring with her.
