Afterward, your journey will take you to the UNESCO-listed Wachau at the Danube River Valley, arriving in Krems after traveling from Vienna for 1 hour. ⊛ Next is Duernstein. The ancient town of Dürnstein is an indispensable destination on the banks of the Danube, where tradition and beauty meet in an incomparable way. The landscape is characterized by the natural beauty of the old vineyards, the pleasant climate, and the numerous cultural monuments. Time for lunch, coffee, or freshly drafted beer. ⊛ Proceed to Melk with the monastery of the Benedictines established in 1089. ⊛ Continue to the Austrian Lake District. Drive along Lake Attersee and Mondsee and take advantage of some great photo opportunities. Stop in Unterach, which was painted by famous artist Gustav Klimt.
