Being an Austrian-American in the beautiful city of Vienna and sharing its beauty and fascinating history with you turns out to be my true calling in life. I have been a private tour guide for over 12 years and I passionately love my job! I was born and raised in Vienna where I also attended Vienna University (Associate Degree in Tourism and PhD in Linguistics). After graduating I had a very fun job, I worked as a flight attendant for Austrian Airlines. I really got infected with the travel bug, and also learned that I thrive when working in an international environment. On one of my trips I met my husband and moved to Los Angeles. America became a second home to my two twin children and myself. We are all US citizens aswell as Austrian citizens. I even went to school in Los Angeles and finished a graphic design degree at UCLA. Sadly many years ago I became widowed and my kids and I moved back to my beloved city of Vienna where I went to school again to become a certified Austrian tour guide - a demanding training of about 2 years. When it comes to my tours my top priority is to give you the most memorable experience possible in whatever time frame we have. I will show you the most important, and also the most charming parts of the city and instruct you on the sites and the history of Vienna. My tours are (hopefully) interesting, informative and humorous. I LOVE history, I have a profound interest in the rise of the house of Habsburg, its downfall after World War I, Austria's dark path leading to National Socialism and World War II. I am interested and quite knowledgeable about Jewish history in Vienna, starting in the Middle Ages, the dark years in Austrian history and the contemporary discussion of art restitution. Please check out my "Women in Gold tour"! One more thing: I absolutely love children. As a mother of 16 year old twins I have a good amount of experience what kids and young adults like and what they find rather boring, please check out my "Kids Foodie and Fun Tour"! (during summer months) If you have read so far that means that you are indeed considering me as your tour guide. Please do contact me and I hope we get to know each other very soon in Vienna! I promise that I will do my best to make this a memorable experience for you and your family! Best regards from this side of the world, Susanne Fully Certified Austrian Guide PhD in Linguistics (German, English and French) Associate Degree in Tourism Graphic Design & Photography Degree from UCLA Extension - Go Bruins! I do not have a car of my own but I can arrange for a separate car and driver. Vienna is a city like New York City where owning a car is not necessary and if so a hassle with parking.

Why not leave the city behind for one day and join me on this fascinating excursion! We will start out at your hotel, where I will come to pick you up with a professional driver and car. Our first stop will be the medival Liechtenstein Castle. You will learn about the medival lifestyle of Count Liechtenstein and his family. We move on to the true highlight of the tour, Heiligenkreuz Abbay. Also created in the Middle Ages, it is a working Cistercian cloister with a fantastic medival church. If you are truly interested in Habsburg history we will then move onto the Karmel Mayerling, where the big tragedy happened. Here crown prince Rudolph committed murder suicide, casting terrible shadows on the already weak Danube monarchy. We can now enjoy a truly scenic ride through the "Helenental"-Valley and will arrive in the charming town of Gumpoldskirchen, where you can sample a glass of Austrian white wine! For the foodies amongst you we can have lunch at Freigut Thallern - located in a scenic vinery!

Our tour to the Viennese Woods with Suzanne was a wonderful way to see the area. Her knowledge and her fun and articulate way of explaining the history of the area left us with lasting memories and a new friendship. She showed a sincere interest in our backgrounds and tied her tour information to points we found most interesting. We will never forget our hueriger lunch and the explanation of Austrian food traditions. Suzanne also had an excellent driver with an immaculate and comfortable vehicle.
Many thanks to Suzanne for showing us Vienna outside of the city. Suzanne and out driver Fred made it easy to leave the city and see more of how the Viennese live. We saw Liechtenstein Castle, had an incredible tour at Heiligenkreuz Abbey, a stop at Baden and lunch at a local winery. It was a relaxing day filled with adventure!
Susanne did a wonderful job guiding our four-person tour. She was knowledgeable and friendly, and was a particularly good job for our group of Americans because of her experience living in the States. If you are an American traveler looking for a guide in Vienna, you should definitely pick her!
We had a great two days with Susanne. Extremely knowledgable and very personable. I would highly recommend Susanne.
Great to tour medieval castle and unlock rooms as we went through. Gave the best description of the Hapsburg dynasty I have heard in many lectures, just enough detail. Heard the organ playing in monastery that Shubert loved to play.
