The best excursions to discover any tourism destination are excursions organized by local guides. I am one of them in Latvia (licensed and happy) - Armands Latvia Guide. I am not calling guiding - my job, this is my Life. The way I am doing this usually are not only informative, but also helping to discover sense of place. I am calling my excursions - LIFESTYLE EXCURSIONS. Excursions should not be boring. Try it! I have educational background in Biology (thanks to Gerald Durell and Nicolay Drozdov) and in Tourism (thanks to Tur Heyerdahl and Yury Senkevich). Latvia is beautiful with rich history, beautiful nature, safe, tasty and friendly with a nice people. The tourists are different with different interests, so I am flexible to fined the best way to suite guests interests. The educational background - several guide courses and academic degree in Biology (MSc) and Tourism Management (MBA) and near 30 years in Tourism industry helps me to keep my level interesting and professional.

The tour was fine and the castles near Segulda were worth visiting. I’m giving the tour 4 stars because as another reviewer mentioned earlier, Armands substitutes another guide the night before the tour. He spoke English and was nice but he didn’t know a lot about the history of Riga or speak much about the culture. His specialty was biology and ornithology. So if you are...

This review is NOT for Armands as he substituted a colleague named Janis at the last minute without a lot of notice. Having said that, Janis gave us an absolutely outstanding tour of Riga.

Vi så en kæmpestor grotte i et smukt område, og en tur med kabelbanen var store oplevelser. Ligesom slottet og det område var spændende at besøge. Tak til Armands for det dejlige selskab

Vi var med Armands på en tur til Talsi og Tukums. Vi kørte i et virkelig smukt landskab, og lærte en masse om Letland og befolkningen i landet. Det var virkelig dejligt at komme ud i landets storslåede natur med en skøn gåtur i skoven. Kæmpestor anbefaling til en meget empatisk og vidende guide.
