Buongiorno :) I am Mara, I am a licensed tour guide and passionate about my land. I live in Ragusa, south-east Sicily. I first joined ToursbyLocals as a "Guide onboarder", working in Vancouver, Canada. At that time I was still exploring job opportunities abroad. But after few years, the daily contact with tour guides, combined with my strong passion for my island, pushed me to go back home and to start a new course at uni. And so... it was thanks to ToursbyLocals that in 2019 I officially became aTour guide! My motto is: "To love it is to share it!" I find truly gratifying talking about what I am passionate about, and proud of, about my land. Sicily, a land of conquests and conquerors, an island of multiple identities. The three-cornered island, where the folklore and traditions of yesteryear are still alive; an island of volcanoes, of "quarries," of golden beaches; an island of temples, mosaics and Baroque: Sicily "a land of "synthesis." I organize guided tours for individuals and groups in southeastern Sicily (Noto-Ragusa-Modica-Scicli). For me, tourism means understanding the land, getting to know its people and discovering the traditions it holds. Passionate about wine and a WSET graduate, I will be happy to organize wine and food tours for a bespoke discovery of the region!
