Buongiorno and welcome to the city called "red , the wise and the fat! I was Born in Bologna in the 1983, and I started working as official tour guide and hiking guide in the 2018. Immediately, it was so clear and straghtforward how much underrated this unique red medieval city was. Bologna is an oportunity for anyone who desires to discover a new hidden part of Italy! This hidden gem, sorrounded by green hills, looks like today a New York of the middle ages, with more than 20 towers still up, dominating its skyline. Bologna, oldest university centre of Europe, but also city of 45 kms of PORTICI (today UNESCO world heritage site) always knows how to surprised its travellers. And even for MUSIC lovers there is a huge heritage to discover (the city was designated as creative city of music by UNESCO). It is worldwide known that the city is where the first gorgeous renaissance PIPE ORGANS were built, or the city Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart chose for his studies, and his inspirational activity too, or just the perfect place to taste a great glass of local wine shrouded in the atmosphere of a JAZZ CLUB! Everyday I feel my passion for this city is spurred and kept alive by new discoveries, and it is a great pleasure to take our traverellers by hand and get lost with them in the buzzing narrow medieval streets of the old market, sorrounded by scents of spices, flavours of cheeses, like its majesty the PARMIGIANO REGGIANO, and delicious aged salumi. Explored the old market, gastronomic heart of northern iItaly ? The dicovery continues with unexpected architectures and views, all around us, and our look gets trapped by the red tiles of a medieval abbey, the lapis lazzuli of old painted chapels, or by some original 900 years old wooden houses. Sometimes, when dusk comes, and shadows are cast on the red archways of the colomnades the clay sculptures of a tiny hidden corner, lost in the old town, seem to dare us, targeting our visitors look, as if they knew who is familiar with them or not, who is a foreigner in the city or yet acquainted with their golden beauty. . . Finally do not miss the chance to follow me on a tour of Bologna hills nature culture and GASTRONOMY. Between a Parmigiano Dairy and a medieval castle, between an ACETAIA and a lonsome old abbey, the day will come to an end and leave the evening space for new gastronomic and cultural discoveries. We came in Winter so we experienced the thick mist that sometimes covers this area. Unfortunately we could not see the beautiful countryside and castles that dotted the hills. But Ricardo explained it all very well and we saw an amazing medieval castle in Vignola. We also saw how parmeggiano cheese and Balsamic vinegar are made and produced. We also had a wonderful meal...
