Kalimera/Kalispera! My name is Mariella, I was born and raised in the beautiful city of Agios Nikolaos. From a young age I was fascinated by the history and mythology of Greece. Later on, upon receiving my high school diploma, I eagerly embraced the next chapter of my educational adventure by pursuing a degree in Archaeology at the prestigious University of Crete. The university's renowned Department of Archaeology stood out to me as an ideal environment to further hone my skills and knowledge under the guidance of experienced scholars and professionals. Later on, after completing my studies I decided to become a Professional Tour Guide, licensed by the Ministry of Tourism. Being a Tour guide allows me to connect people to the unique history and experiences that make my homeland special, fostering a sense of appreciation and understanding. I believe that history is more than just dates and facts. it is a collection of captivating tales that deserve to be brought to life. If I could sum up some small details for Crete, I would definitely describe it as a vibrant island with a long history, traditions but also with breathtaking beaches and scenery. Fascinating and engaging! Mariella was an outstanding guide who made the Knossos palace much more “visible” and provided excellent context for highlights of the archaeological museum. We can highly recommend this tour and guide to anyone with more than a superficial interest in Minoan Crete.

Mariella was an excellent guide. She took Us through the archeological museum and explained it so that we came away understanding the history of Crete. Our walk through the Old Town was enjoyable and she stopped and explained the historical sites we were passing. She was patient and made sure we had water rest and an excellent frappe (iced coffee). I would recommend...
