Secrets of Heraklion: Architectural, gastronomic sights & nature half day tour

She was our guide for a full day, and she turned what could have been an ordinary visit into one of the highlights of our entire trip. Anna took us to a beautiful monastery that we would never have discovered on our own, and from there guided us through a series of authentic local experiences that gave us a real taste of Cretan culture and traditions. She clearly knows the island deeply — not just the landmarks, but the soul of the place. What truly set Anna apart was her warmth, enthusiasm, and genuine passion for sharing her home with visitors. Anna along with her husband (driver) showed us many wonderful places in Heraklion including a mountain top monastery with a beautiful greek church partially in a cave. We also enjoyed honey tasting and Olive oil tasting and learning about the isle of Crete, while walking along the streets in a shopping area. Anna spoke good english and continues to work on improving her command of the english language.

This was an AMAZING tour!!! Anna is an incredible tour guide, with loads of interesting information and a wealth of knowledge about Crete and the culture. The monastery was quite high on the hillside, so there were incredible views. It was a place of beauty and serene peace; quite a treasure. Then we drove back to the city, and tasted olive oil, different flavors of honey, cheeses, and phyllo pastries called bougadsa. Everything was so, SO delicious! Anna found a ripe persimmon in a fruit/vegetable market, and we tried one for the first time...it's a sweet delicacy! We also saw architecture from many centuries, and went inside several churches. This tour was packed with delightful experiences, and I highly recommend it!!!

Anna was so informative and enthusiastic that we felt we lived here when the tour was done. Great and interesting historical facts were intertwined with knowledge of the current. We were shown sights where there were no other tourists which made her approach and tour even more special. If we are ever fortunate enough to return to this beautiful island, we will certainly book again with Anna.

Outstanding guide. Very knowledgeable, polite, energetic and fun. She doesn't drag you to see a demonstration and pressure you into buying their goods. Enjoyed visiting the old monastery and island tour. She allowed to see what we wanted and was flexible with our time. Ask her to take you the custom shoemaker. Superb tour. Highly recommend Anna!!
