Knossos Palace, Archaeological Museum / Heraklion City Center: A Journey Through Time

My family (wife and 3 kids aged 16, 14 & 11) spent 2 weeks touring Greece and did 8 tours during that time. Mariella was unquestionably our favorite guide. We didn't know what to expect with this tour as we didn't know much of the history prior to arriving. But Mariella just connected with our kids to help them personalize the history through stories, relatable references, and a paced teaching method. I can't say enough about how much all of my kids spoke about her after the tour and how much about what she taught them they retained. Mariella was communicative prior to the tour and even helped get my kids tickets to the palace when I was having troubles. She helped arrange for transportation, gave us fantastic food recommendations, and simply made the whole day fun. I can't say enough good things about this tour and Mariella. We have traveled the world as a family and now Crete has made it near the top of places we've been to (and now want to come back to) because of what an amazing guide Mariella was to myself and my family.

Fascinating and engaging! Mariella was an outstanding guide who made the Knossos palace much more “visible” and provided excellent context for highlights of the archaeological museum. We can highly recommend this tour and guide to anyone with more than a superficial interest in Minoan Crete.

Excellent tour. Mariella had a very engaging personality and was extremely knowledgeable and shared the history of the Minoans in a way that was easy to follow, educational, and enjoyable to listen to. Communication during the booking process and afterward was very quick and responsive. My wife has mobility issues and Mariella was extremely caring and accommodating.

Mariella was a fantastic guide for myself and my daughter (who was 9 years old at the time). She gave us a wonderful tour of Knossos, helping to avoid the crowds while bringing to life the Minoan civilisation. She was then able to show us some of the amazing artefacts that have been found on the site in the musuem in Heraklion. There were many tours there but Mariella skilfully found a way to still show us the key pieces and bring everything to life. My daughter and I will always remember our special day with Mariella.
