Kalimera/Kalispera! My name is Mariella, I was born and raised in the beautiful city of Agios Nikolaos. From a young age I was fascinated by the history and mythology of Greece. Later on, upon receiving my high school diploma, I eagerly embraced the next chapter of my educational adventure by pursuing a degree in Archaeology at the prestigious University of Crete. The university's renowned Department of Archaeology stood out to me as an ideal environment to further hone my skills and knowledge under the guidance of experienced scholars and professionals. Later on, after completing my studies I decided to become a Professional Tour Guide, licensed by the Ministry of Tourism. Being a Tour guide allows me to connect people to the unique history and experiences that make my homeland special, fostering a sense of appreciation and understanding. I believe that history is more than just dates and facts. it is a collection of captivating tales that deserve to be brought to life. If I could sum up some small details for Crete, I would definitely describe it as a vibrant island with a long history, traditions but also with breathtaking beaches and scenery. So let's explore the hidden gems of Crete and its customs together. My trips will be tailor made to your needs so that every tour is as unique as you! See you on Crete! Our tour will start at the picturesque city of Agios Nikolaos, where we will learn the myths and the stories related to this beautiful city. Agios Nikolaos used to be in the ancient times the sea port of the city of Lato, one of the most important city states in Crete. Did you know it was also the birth place of Nearchos, who became later on an admiral of Alexander the Great. It is built on a saddle between two hills, at a site protected by possible attacks but also with a splendid view over a large area of the Mirambello Bay. Next stop on our list will be the traditional village of Kritsa. Apart from the long history and traditions that accompany this village trough time you can enjoy a coffee or a refreshment under the shadow of an old sycamore Next and last stop of this tour will be the village of Kroustas, a peaceful escape where you can enjoy a lunch savoring the simplicity of Cretan village life or a greek coffee.
