A "crash course" in Art History through the treasures of the Louvre

Have you ever wanted to finally understand the different art movements? Find out or brush up on how and why they evolved and developed? Become a real "art buff"? In the Louvre we will travel through time and space as the paintings bring to life the great journey of art. We will explore the roots of Western civilisation in antiquity, then continue through the Italian renaissance, Mannerism, Baroque, and Romantics. Of course we will not forget the iconic highlights and even understand why the Impressionists were so groundbreaking.
Take away lasting knowledge with your memories.
I provide a « cheat sheet » with a timeline of key names and dates

Audio sets are provided so you can hear me in comfort in the noisy areas.

Itinerary

The Louvre is the world's largest and most visited museum and can be an exhausting labyrinth for the uninitiated. I have planned my tour to highlight the best works to follow the evolution of art history and to admire this extraordinary palace. We will start with the splendid Greek and Roman collection including Venus de Milo and Winged Victory of Samothrace then continue through the most famous wing of the museum with works by Botticelli, Raphael, Da Vinci, Caravaggio, Delacroix and Géricault. We will finish by crossing over to the opposite wing to marvel at the splendour of Napoleon III appartments and the spectacular French Sculpture Hall.
Of course the itinerary is flexible according to your particular interests.
!THE LOUVRE IS CLOSED ON TUESDAYS!
