Ask most non-Germans how they came to be in Berlin and the answer is usually this: "I came on holiday and never left". This is exactly what happened to me. I arrived in this city from England, fresh out of Manchester University with a BA in Sociology, tired of the motherland and eager for new experiences and fresh ideas. What started out as a temporary fling, soon became a long-term love affair with this city which I now call my own: that's 13 years later, mastery of a new language, German Citizenship to boot, and solid foundations of a life I never predicted.
I have been a full-time Tour Guide since 2006 and every day I am excited to go to work, so I think I must be in the right profession. Berlin is without a doubt one of the most incredible cities in the world, every corner is soaked in history. It's raw and unapologetic. An explosion of contradictions. Sometimes harsh, but home to liberal, open minds. It's in a constant state of evolution. I feel incredibly lucky that my job as a tour guide allows me to observe and immerse in this explosion of life that is today's Berlin.
I have experience with all types of tours: from one on one Private Tours to 40-person Bus Tours, School and University Groups, Couples and Families. I have guided on foot, bike, segway, bus, and with a private car and chauffeur. Whether you are a first time visitor wanting to see all the most important sights, or if you are keen to get off the beaten path and explore the hidden gems the city has to offer - I can adjust the tour to whatever interests you have. At the end of the tour, I will give you a map clearly marking where we went together as a personal souvenir of your explorations, as well as giving tips and recommendations about what to do with the rest of your stay.
Berlin is a living breathing entity: many have succumbed to its charm and magnetic draw that makes it unlike anywhere else in the world. It well and truly has me hooked and I would like to show you why.
See you soon!

We were extremely fortunate to have found Marriette during our brief three days stay In Berlin. She was very competent, friendly, engaging and knowledgeable, but, most importantly, she clearly shares a great passion for this city. With Marriette's ancestry ties to the area, she has lived in Berlin for 13 years and accumulated a wealth of information, which she delivers with great clarity. Even with some prior knowledge about Germany, we were surprised to discover a lot of facts.
