Shore excursion Warnemünde-Berlin with a private guide and contemporary witness

Hilke was absolutely wonderful! She was always quick to answer my questions and truly went above and beyond to take care of us. She was incredibly knowledgeable and gave us a much deeper understanding of Germany’s history. I especially appreciated the thought-provoking questions she asked throughout the tour, which encouraged us to look at the history from different perspectives and gave us an even greater understanding of what we were seeing. Hilke arranged for a driver to pick us up directly from our cruise port, and he was fantastic as well! He made sure we had umbrellas, helped us get in and out of his very comfortable van, and even made a restroom stop for us during the more than two-hour drive into Berlin. I was especially grateful for the care Hilke showed my elderly mother. She was always attentive to her needs and made sure we were comfortable and safe throughout the day. She also gave us wonderful food recommendations and even took us to a German chocolate shop for a special treat! Hilke made our day in Berlin incredibly memorable, and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, thoughtful, and caring guide. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

Hilke was fantastic. She is quite colorful and funny, and she kept us laughing with some of her stories/antics. We hit all of the major attractions in Berlin, and with detailed information about each. I would absolutely recommend a tour from her.

Hilke’s driver was prompt to pick us up and went out of his way to get a step stool to help me get in to the van. Hilke was very knowledgeable about the history of Berlin and what led up to WW 11 and the Berlin Wall. It is not a simple explanation and Hilke tied everything together for us. She also took us to a Beirgarden for lunch so we could sample authentic German wursts. We came away with a better understanding of how Hitler came into power and WW1 and WW 11 and the putting up and removal of the Berlin Wall. Hopefully, we can all learn from this dark part of history.

Our family of 6 thoroughly enjoyed our Berlin tour with Hilke. Our transportation from the cruise port was on time and a nice vehicle. We were promptly met by Hilke once we arrived in Berlin and she provided an insightful, informative and interesting tour. Her sense of humor and personal experiences were a bonus. She also took us to an excellent Berlin outdoor restaurant for a true taste of local cuisine. I would highly recommend her services. Thanks Hilke!

Hilke was a WONDERFUL guide who made the very most of the six short hours we had available to see a few of the highlights of Berlin. Her courteous driver swiftly delivered us to the city and back to the port of Warnemunde. Hilke's choice of places to visit, and her knowledge of the history of the city, especially during the Third Reich, the Cold War and other periods, was simply superb, as was her effortless command of English. It is hard to imagine a better guide to the highlights of vibrant Berlin.
