I arrived fresh from Manchester University with a BA in Sociology, ready to escape the drizzle of the motherland and dive into something new. What started as a brief fling with Berlin turned into a full-blown love affair, and 19 years later, I’m still here. I’ve mastered the language, gained German citizenship, and built a life I never saw coming. I’ve been a full-time tour guide since 2006, and I still wake up excited to head to work, surely a sign I’m in the right job. Berlin is unlike any other city: layered with history, bursting with contradictions, raw and resilient, constantly reinventing itself. It’s not always pretty, but it’s always real. And it never, ever gets boring. Over the years, I’ve guided every type of tour you can imagine: private one-on-ones, lively school and university groups, romantic strolls with couples, full-blown 40-person bus tours, you name it.
