Welcome to Berlin! I'm Marriette and I'd love to show you what Berlin has to offer! Ask any non-German how they ended up in Berlin and you’ll often hear the same story: “I came on holiday and never left.” And that’s exactly how it happened for me. I arrived fresh from Manchester University with a BA in Sociology, ready to escape the drizzle of the motherland and dive into something new. What started as a brief fling with Berlin turned into a full-blown love affair, and 19 years later, I’m still here. I’ve mastered the language, gained German citizenship, and built a life I never saw coming. I’ve been a full-time tour guide since 2006, and I still wake up excited to head to work, surely a sign I’m in the right job. Berlin is unlike any other city: layered with history, bursting with contradictions, raw and resilient, constantly reinventing itself. It’s not always pretty, but it’s always real. And it never, ever gets boring. Over the years, I’ve guided every type of tour you can imagine: private one-on-ones, lively school and university groups, romantic strolls with couples, full-blown 40-person bus tours, you name it. On foot, by bike, segway, chauffeur-driven car or coach, I adapt to whatever suits your style. Whether you want to tick off the must-see sights or uncover Berlin’s hidden nooks and off-the-radar gems, I’ll tailor the experience to your interests. Berlin is a living, breathing creature with a personality all its own. It’s reeled me in for good, and I’d love to show you exactly why. Looking forward to meeting you! - Native English Speaker - 19 years of experience as a professional Berlin Tourguide - BA Degree in Sociology from Manchester University I am not a driver, but I can arrange for a vehicle and driver at an additional cost upon request.

As the advent season begins, so too do the Christmas Markets. They pop up in nearly every town and city in Germany; beautiful wooden stalls selling glühwein, bratwurst, chocolate, as well has hand-crafted tree decorations and seasonal gifts. Weihnachtsmärkte date back to the 14th Century where locals could buy everything they would need for the Christmas celebration including cake moulds and candles. If you are lucky enough to be in Berlin at this time of year, I would love to take you to a couple of the city's most charming Christmas Markets, each with their own style, all in incredible locations. We will discuss the history behind each area, as well as the meaning and origin of German Christmas Traditions, which in many cases are now ubiquitous across the globe. We will drink Glühwein together and nibble on all of the most traditional treats - Gebrannte Mandeln (warm candied almonds). Let's get festive! 🎄
- Rotes Rathaus Christmas Market - Museum Island - Gendarmenmarkt Christmas Market If you would like to include any additional sites, please do let me know and we can personalise your tour. Please be advised - tours take place no matter what the weather is, I am British which means I'm very much used to the rain! Check the weather on the day of our tour and be prepared with umbrellas if necessary. Be sure to dress nice and warm with hats/scarves, then I will keep your belly warm with Glühwein ;)
