The Mission District of San Francisco gets its name from Mision Dolores de Asis, built in 1791 by the Franciscan missionaries. Back then the city was called Yerba Buena and this area had plenty of fresh water and sunny weather. Today this neighborhood still boasts warmer temperatures than other parts of San Francisco. It also acts as an entry point for many immigrants who bring their unique cuisines and cultures to liven the atmosphere. I hope you will join me on a walking tour of this colorful and historic area of San Francisco. I am a local and experienced guide, Certified by the San Francisco Tour Guide Guild. I have been offering this tour since 2012 and enjoy sharing the ever-changing landscape of this neighborhood. Along the way we will enjoy some sweets, some savories, and some coffee while observing the murals painted on many buildings and in many alleyways.
