Originally from the east coast, but have been a San Francisco local since 2000. I am the owner of a walking tour company, and over the past fourteen years, I have given over 3000 tours to guests from all over the world. I offer six different tours of the neighborhoods of San Francisco. . . The Castro, Mission district, Telegraph Hill, Eureka Valley, Cow Hollow, Pacific Heights, Chinatown, North Beach, Russian Hill and Golden Gate Park. All of the tours are approximately four miles each, cover various neighborhoods, and have at least one hill and one stairway on them. I take people to hidden stairways and gardens, amazing vistas, and famous landmarks. Along the way, I use my iPad to show relevant historical photos that are arranged in order of the stops on the tour. The tours were all designed as loops, with the start and finish a landmark spot, so guests do not get lost when the tour is finished. Two must-see Districts, one urban hike. Colorful trolleys, rainbow flags, and inviting terraces catch your eye as you cruise through the vibrant Castro District. With each block, a new piece of history paints the origins of the Castro and how it became the LGBTQ+ 'mecca' it is today. We'll explore the tucked-away neighborhood of Liberty Hill on our way to Dolores Park, a picturesque microcosm of San Francisco living. Here you can spot slanting rows of Victorian houses, lively craft vendors, and parties of all ages having fun in the sun. Our next stop is an oldest building in the City and namesake of the Mission District: Mission Dolores. In the Mission, I'll share old Spanish-California stories before we dive into one of the most happening neighborhoods in America. Known for its Latin roots, mural-lined streets, and eccentric nightlife, the Mission is the place to be. Take note of the craft cocktail bars, authentic Mission-style taquerias, and techno clubs to plan an unforgettable evening after the tour.
What a fabulous guide Ryan is! His knowledge of SF history, neighborhood intricacies, great food places is awesome. But on top of that he knows all the different trees and shrubs on the streets. I got a real sense of the two neighborhoods we toured and overall sense of the peoples of San Francisco

Ryan's tour was amazing! His knowledge of San Francisco history, architecture, native trees and plants is impressive, and his energy and enthusiasm made it so much fun. We had such an amazing time during our 3h private tour trough Castro and the Mission with Ryan. I planned this tour as a surprise activity for a friend. We're locals and looking for something safe to do during COVID is not easy. This was perfect! Ryan gave us an amazing tour! There was never a dull moment. This was the most fun we had in a long time!!! I would recommend this to everyone. Will definitely go on another tour tour with him!
Fantastic tour of vibrant parts of San Francisco that we otherwise wouldn't have visited. Ryan was an engaging, knowledge and entertaining guide. He was also great to deal with and very flexible in accommodating our groups wishes. Definitely would rate as a 5 out of 5
Erudite and a wealth of knowledge, Ryan led us on a tour that covered architecture and history of the famed Castro district that had us both laughing and gasping at the sights. We were in amazement at Ryan's knowledge of history of the district and it made us want to delve deeper. We revisited two of the stops on the tour the following day and would have done more if we had more time. Highly recommended!
