Greetings, Roberto here. Although I was born and raised in Italy, for the past ten years I've been calling San Francisco, the "The City by the Bay", my home. I love this town's vibrant life, eventful history, and culture of open-mindedness. I truly enjoy experiencing new adventures and meeting people from all over the world on my private tours of San Francisco and nearby environs. My background in the liberal arts and passion for foreign languages and cross-cultural communication, gave me the opportunity and ability to work and play in Mexico, Spain and now the USA. I am happy to share my local knowledge and world experiences with my guests. I love nature, history and I am passionate about wine. So visiting American National Parks and California Wine Country is always exciting for me. When it comes to San Francisco, I take great pleasure in showing my guests iconic landmarks and lesser-known parts of the City. My tours are private and therefore, they are all customizable to meet your personal interests and expectations. Looking forward to hearing from you soon! This tour is a combination of a relaxing walk in the shade of the tallest species of trees in the world, with a sightseeing of San Francisco's most famous landmarks: a perfect full-day getaway. Muir Woods National Monument is one of my favorite places to visit in the San Francisco Bay Area, being a rare example of an old-growth redwood forest just a dozen miles away from the City. Depending on Muir Woods parking reservation system's availability, the order of the tour could be reversed. Morning is the most popular time to visit the forest, followed by a quick lunch in Sausalito, but the afternoons provide more quiet and intimate experience. Given my passion for nature, I have lots of commentary to provide before entering Muir Woods, but keep in mind National Park Service doesn't allow tour guides to give tours inside the park, where I will only be able to escort you. This tour can be customized to your personal requests, feel free to contact me.
- After pick up, this tour starts with a drive from San Francisco across the Golden Gate Bridge, with an optional stop for photographs. - Next is a scenic half-hour drive along the windy Pacific Coast Highway 1, through the beautiful Marin Headlands, up and down to Muir Woods National Monument. (My recommendation is to spend at least one hour inside the park. That gives you enough time to see the main redwood groves and take in the magical atmosphere of the forest). - On the way back we will stop by Sausalito to grab a snack or quick lunch. This is a lovely town known for waterfront views, hilltop mansions, houseboats, art galleries and plenty of restaurants. - Time to explore San Francisco most iconic neighborhoods and landmarks like: GG Bridge, Palace of Fine Arts, Lombard Street, Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39, North Beach, Chinatown, Nob Hill, City Hall, Alamo Square and the Painted Ladies. There will be stops for photos and walking based on your areas of interest.
