Since I am a 5th-generation Charlestonian, I may be a bit biased, but I think you're going to fall in love with this place! I have many years of experience bringing the sights and sounds of Charleston to visitors and newcomers. My tours have been featured in Fodor's Travel Guide and Diversion Magazine. I am also the author of five popular guide books about the area's culture, architecture and history. In addition to being a licensed tour guide, I am a guest speaker at special programs, a freelance writer for local magazines, and a former docent at local historic sites. Before pursuing my current avocation as a tour professional, I was a classroom teacher, and I hold a Master's Degree in Education (from the College of Charleston, of course). Let me introduce you to the city where I've lived my entire life and that has been home to my family for over 170 years. I am licensed by the city of Charleston as a registered tour guide and as a member of Charleston's Palmetto Guild, a designation of local tour guides who have been recognized by the city as committed to historical accuracy, continuing education and providing an engaging experience for visitors. I am also a freelance writer for travel books and local publications.

Charles Town's colonial and Revolutionary War history is second to none. It was the only "walled city" that the British built in America, and its seaport rivaled those of New York, Philadelphia and Boston. It became the wealthiest of any city in America! During the Revolutionary War, one of the first major victories for the Patriots over British forces took place here, but four years later, the city was the site of the longest siege of any American city by the British. Take a step back in time nearly 300 years to discover the rich history of this period by strolling the same streets and viewing many of the same buildings that were witness to the founding of our nation. As the author of a popular guidebook of Charleston's Revolutionary War history, I would delight in introducing you to Colonial Charleston!
Through this walking tour, we will spend three hours exploring significant sites, events and figures of the colonial period. Among the many sites included are: - The Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon - St. Philip's Church - St. Michael's Church - French Huguenot Church - John Rutledge House - The Powder Magazine - The Pink House - Edward Rutledge House - The State House - Miles Brewton House - Coates Row - Rainbow Row - Heyward-Washington House Tour itinerary can be customized upon request.
