Hi there, glad you're thinking of coming to Boston. I adopted Boston as my home town 20 years ago and loved being an informal tour guide to friends and family so much, I made it my profession. I'm originally from Scotland, and so much of Boston's history has links to the UK, I felt instantly at home here. I'm naturally a curious person so moving to a new city gave me a whole load of stuff to explore and learn about. I'm a keen social historian, and have attended lots of courses and lectures about Boston & American history and continue studying to broaden my own knowledge and add content to my tour. Knowing the history of the city is interesting, but my time as a tour guide has taught me that history isn't everybody's cup of tea! The great thing about being a private tour guide is that I can customize each tour to exactly what the group is keen to see and hear about. I'm full of current day stories, fun facts, useless bits of info about the city, famous movie scenes, real estate prices, shopping tips and off the beaten path spots that help me make each tour unique. Boston has such a lively atmosphere and as a foodie who enjoys wine & cocktails I'm always out and about in the city researching places to eat, drink, watch sports, catch a show or live music. This "research" I pass along with tips and suggestions of places to go (and avoid) while in Boston. I love people, and have an up beat, light hearted and relaxed style to touring. I'm Boston's only female driving private tour guide, and am approved and licensed by the Boston Transportation Commissioner and Boston Police Department. I've been a professional private tour guide for 10 years and do driving tours in a new, livery insured 4 passenger Lexus (no space for luggage). Please don't hesitate to get in touch for more info about my Boston tours, any questions you might have or if you need some help customizing a tour, would love to hear from you. Cheers Joan Boston's only fully licensed female driving tour guide Approved to conduct driving tours by Boston Transportation Dept & Boston Police Dept Driving a livery insured vehicle No restrictions

Whether you've always been a fan, or just recently got into it, this half day private driving tour covers the sites and scenes in Boston & Concord connected to the Alcott family, the original book or recent movie. I really got into this again after seeing the recent movie, so put this tour together for fans of Louisa May Alcott and Little Women. I picked out the key scenes from the movie filmed in Boston and researched places the family would have lived or visited. I've combined these with a drive to their much loved town of Concord. Here you'll visit the family home where the book was written, and subject to availability, you'll have the chance to join a tour of the house, conducted by one of the Orchard house guides. Options are then to visit the resting place of the Alcott family or stroll the quintessential all American, main street of Concord. Final quick stop at Walden Pond where the family would have skated on our way back to Boston.
There's various options for this tour, and I like to keep it fluid to give you time at the places most meaningful to you. You'll be choosing from: - Boston home of Louisa May Alcott - we'll pass MIT & Harvard universities - pass the home of family friend Henry Longfellow - drive down Battle Rd to Concord - tour of the Orchard House & book shop* - Sleepy Hollow cemetery - Concord Main St - Walden Pond Concord is 20 miles from Boston, not far, but Boston traffic can be unpredictable. Please expect 60+ minutes of this tour to be travel time. I pick up and drop off at any downtown Boston hotel or accommodation. I drive a 4 passenger livery insured Lexus (no space for luggage).
