Salem, a historic coastal city in the North Shore region, was settled in 1626. Salem is a rich historical city known for its maritime heritage, infamous witchcraft trials, exceptional architecture, and connection to Nathaniel Hawthorne. Its layers of the past create a fascinating tapestry from the colonial era to more recent history. We’ll return to 1692 while exploring the infamous Salem Witch Trials. We’ll also stroll through the McIntire Historic District, home to America’s first millionaires, visit the House of Seven Gables, and explore the scenic Salem waterfront. Marblehead, with its timeless charm, is famous for its well-preserved colonial character. Established in 1629, its narrow streets and historic buildings reflect the pride of its early settlers. We’ll visit Marblehead’s Old Town, a historic district with an impressive collection of colonial homes, galleries, shops, and restaurants, offering a glimpse into its storied past.
We really enjoyed this tour with Naim! Prior to the start of the trip, he reached out to get a better understanding of our trip interests in order to tailor the trip to our goals. We enjoyed the history of this maritime area, the coastal scenery, and time to walk around and explore, making for a very fun and interesting day. In addition to the tour itself, he recommended several self-guided activities we could do on our own while in the Boston area.
We had a great tour with Naim. He was really enthusiastic, knowledgable and helpful. We went to his restaurant recommendations and even had a drink in the Cheers bar. He showed us Boston, Salem and Plymouth. We would not have covered so many sites and history without him.
