Hi, my name is Sue and I would love to share with you some of the places I love to share with my guests. You can often see me visiting the White Cliffs of Dover - a favourite place of mine and my daughter's I was born in Yorkshire but grew up in Oxfordshire in a small market town and moved to Kent 40 years ago Since 2011, I have enjoyed guiding private clients and groups around the South East of England, working for London-based Tour Operators as well as for Shore Excursions. Currently I am studying Genealogy in my spare time but I also enjoy playing the piano and the Tenor Recorder with Romney Morris Morris as well as walking our terrier, Clover and singing in my local choir. I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver.

Arriving in Dover - known as the Port of Kings, we will first of all see some iconic views - bring your camera to get some spectacular shots of the famous White Cliffs of Dover and perched above them, Dover Castle. Romney Marsh is a very special place on the border of Kent and Sussex, a land created by the action of the sea, thousands of years ago! The villages and towns still today reflect the importance of their patron - the Archbishop of Canterbury. You will find out all about the history of smuggling and visit the pretty town of Tenterden in Kent, which was built on the proceeds of the wool trade. Tenterden has a Georgian high street and the town is known as the 'Jewel of the Weald'. It has also been an important Cinque Port since the fifteenth century. Later local families left for New England from Sandwich, on the ship - Hercules, in 1634 to escape religious persecution. The following itinerary can be customized to suit your needs. Do not hesitate to message me if you have any questions.
Our meeting place is the Port of Dover, in Kent, where you will be met by your Blue Badge Guide and Chauffeur, outside the Cruise Terminal to begin your Tour. We will first of all head up to the White Cliffs of Dover for a short walk to get a great photo of these iconic chalk cliffs, which Dame Vera Lynn, the forces sweetheart sang about. Our next stop is a view of the magnificent Dover Castle, built to defend the Kent coastline from the time of the Norman Conquest and known as the Key to England! We then drive to Tenterden for a short stop, before making our way across Romney Marsh - a very unique landscape created by the sea. We then return to Dover, driving along the coastal road and passing some local historic landmarks including some of our lovely churches of Romney Marsh and seeing some of the places where smugglers lived and worked. * Please note this tour can be customized.
