I live on the beautiful Kent coast in the south east of England. I would be delighted to welcome you to my corner of the country and show you just how stunning the South East of England is with its gorgeous countryside, magnificent gardens, medieval towns and picturesque villages. I have always felt privileged to live in such a wonderful area that is so rich in places to visit. Since I qualified as a professional tour guide and was awarded the highly respected Blue Badge, it has given me the possibility to share my enthusiasm for the region with guests who come from all over the world. There are so many amazing sites in the counties of Kent and East Sussex that you could spend your whole vacation here. On our tour, we may find ourselves strolling along the narrow streets of a medieval town such as Rye, driving along idyllic country lanes or perhaps stopping off in a picture-postcard village such as Biddenden for a traditional cream tea or pub lunch. You will feel very safe and comfortable riding along in my very own 8-seater Mercedes_Benz V Class. This car with its excellent all-round visibility, panoramic glass roof and easy-access electric rear doors is considered to be one of the best in its class for touring. It also allows us the possibility to visit places that are inaccessible to tour buses and large groups. If you have any historical interests such as the Tudors, Charles Dickens, Winston Churchill or World War 2 history, I can also create a customised tour especially for you. If you are a keen gardener, perhaps you would like to visit one of our world-famous gardens such as Great Dixter or Sissinghurst. Wherever we go, my aim is for you to have the most enjoyable day possible while discovering something new about the history, the people and the daily life over here in England. I love sharing a good anecdote or two and will do my best to make sure your day is interesting, entertaining and memorable. If you are a horticulturalist or an avid gardener and enjoy visiting stunning gardens like me, then join me on this tour to 2 of the most amazing gardens the south east of England has to offer. They will not disappoint! After travelling through some of the most beautiful countryside of Kent and East Sussex, you will find yourselves at Sissinghurst, a world-renowned garden and iconic refuge that is dedicated to beauty. Sissinghurst Castle comprises a 16th century tower and other buildings, surrounded by the most famous 20th century garden in England. Its famed 'garden rooms' were planted by Vita-Sackville West, a poet and garden writer. Great Dixter was the family home of world-famous gardener and gardening writer Christopher Lloyd. Nowadays, it is an historic house, a stunning garden, a centre of education, and a place of pilgrimage for horticulturalists. It is taken care of by Christopher's good friend and head gardener, Fergus Garrett, who continues to expand the garden in the same spirit.
- From your chosen pick-up location, we will make our way to Sissinghurst Castle Garden via the most scenic route. - Whilst taking a stroll through the garden with me, you will learn about the long history of the place and soak up the atmosphere of this wonderfully tranquil garden. If you decide to climb up the stairs of the tower, you will have a birds' eye view of the garden rooms and enjoy a stunning vista over the surrounding Weald. - From Sissinghurst we will continue our journey to Great Dixter, perhaps stopping off for some lunch in a typical country pub or English tearoom. - You will immediately feel the quality and unique atmosphere of Great Dixter. Its very different, exuberant and dynamic style of gardening inspires visitors from all over the world. You will also have the opportunity to go inside a medieval timber-framed house, the home of Christopher Lloyd for many years. - After a visit to Great Dixter House and Gardens we return to our destination using an alternative route where possible.
