A medieval gem of the Cinque ports - this ancient town still has cobbled streets and beautifully preserved historic houses from medieval fourteenth century, Tudor and Georgian times. The ideal place to dip back into England's past from royalty to fisherfolk. Dawn, your guide will provide an entertaining & informative commentary on a walk through the town. A great chance to try a real English Cream Tea, good also for smugglers tales and ghosts! Larger groups can be priced upon request
Dawn was delightful! Her knowledge of Medieval Rye was extraordinary. She was thorough in answering our questions and pointing out items of interest along the way. One member of our group has ancestors from nearby Folkstone. Dawn and our driver, Jamie, located the exact house and took us there so our family member could take pictures. What a lovely and unexpected surprise! Our only wish is we had more time in our day with Dawn!
Dawn was delightful; she was on time and well prepared., She spent the tour giving us a great deal of interesting information .while touring Rye . She went out of her way to show us many interesting historical sites along the way. We spent a lovely day with her and would recommend using her ny time!
A very nice few hours spent with Dawn and her driver as we visited the lovely town of Rye, Dawn is a very knowledgeable guide, and we loved her 'accent' :-) On our return from Rye we had the choice of visiting the home of an actress from many years ago and something else which I can't remember, we chose the home but wish we hadn't, in our opinion it wasn't worth the entrance fee and I think if you knew who she was maybe you would go and look for free, we certainly wouldn't recommend it.
We had a memorable day with Dawn going to Canterbury and Rye when docked at Dover. Due to a ship's error, we had to cut the tour down by one hour and Dawna adjusted smoothly and with no problem. Canterbury Cathedral is a MUST see. Completely over the top amazing. Dawn was thoroughly knowledgeable, delightful in person, and very user friendly! We went to the quaint little village of Rye where we did a walking tour and had a lovely lunch. Thumbs up to Dawna!
Dawn is a pleasant and professional guide. She organized a great day visiting Rye, Romney Marsh region, and Dover Castle with insight and a wealth of knowledge.
You are met by your guide and driven through some of the beautiful Kent and Sussex countryside to Rye. Depending on how long you wish your tour to be, there may be time to stop in at a few local medieval churches, a vineyard (yes really, in England and very successful too!), castles or sea defences. At the end of your tour you will be returned to the Cruise Terminal or transferred to your hotel.
