Hello - my name is Jessica and welcome to Sweden - Välkommen! I am so happy you have chosen to travel to Sweden and visit Stockholm - my home city where I have lived half of my life. I will be travelling in Europe this winter and will be back mid-June 2026 and look forward to showing you Stockholm then. Whether you are here for a long visit or just for short while - I would love to show you my home town and introduce you to our Swedish culture and traditions whilst showing you some unique parts of Stockholm and its surroundings, places that are off the beaten track as well as all the "must sees"! I would like to offer you a very Swedish experience. If, before your trip, you would like to get an in depth knowledge of Swedish Culture and Stockholm I have published a book about Stockholm introducing foreigners, expats and diplomats to 'the Swedish way of life' - you will find it on Amazon under the title "Stockholm, Sweden - At Your Fingertips". I also had the honour of guiding Rick Steves in Stockholm in 2023 as he needed to update his book after the pandemic. As a daughter of a Swedish diplomat I have lived abroad half of my life - in Belgium, Kenya, Israel, Greece etc. and what a fantastic world this is! Now I would like to share with you "my world" here in Sweden. I would love to show you the sights and sounds of Stockholm. Experience the old and new City. If you have already been here before, why not let me show you the tranquil suburb of Lidingö - away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Maybe a hike through one of our nature reserves, visit a farm from the 18th century and for the hardy, maybe a dip in the lake. Are there other places you would like to visit or just a tailor-made shopping tour in the city of Stockholm? No problem, just let me know. When I am not out guiding or with my family, I work with expats, newcomers and diplomats introducing them to our Swedish culture, ways and traditions - helping them feel at home here in Sweden. This tour will cover parts of the Old Town as well as the green lush "Djurgarden" where many of my favourite museums are and I would recommend we visit the Vasa. We will have the car all the time, to minimize walking. We will then head out to the country side to the site of your choice - either Drottningholm Palace (where our King & Queen reside) or Lidingö a residential lush island with rune stones from the Viking era, old Manor Houses etc.
Jessica was fabulous. Full of background information delivered with an easy engaging conversation. She guided us all over Old Town and then pursuant to our request drove us out of the city to show us some of the countryside. Highly recommended her.

My wife and I spent an entire day with Jessica and it felt like we were traveling with an old friend we had not seen in a while. Jessica is a very refined and personable guide and a wonderful person to spend a day with when you visit Stockholm. We traveled outside the city to visit areas where the "locals" live and enjoy their beautiful city and the surrounding countryside. We went to have lunch at a beautiful restaurant on a lake and we were the only tourists there. Special experience!

We will meet up centrally in Stockholm and make our way to the old town "Gamla Stan". If you feel up to walking, a suggestion would be that we start off with a walk from the hotel to the old town "Gamla Stan" (as cars are restricted here). Are you ok with walking? From the Old Town we will drive to Djurgården where I suggest we visit at the Vasa Museum. This is one of my favourite museums but there are a lot of others worthwhile visiting depending on your interests. I will brief you on the way and you can then choose which you would like to visit. Then we continue out to the country side where you have the choice to visit one of the following sites: - The Royal Drottningholm Palace, a World Heritage Site, with its beautiful gardens - The island of Lidingö, a suburb of Stockholm with rune stones from the Viking era, the birth place of Raoul Wallenberg, the sculpture garden of Carl Milles etc. Somewhere on the way, if you wish, we can stop for a traditional lunch.

By car in a VW Sharan with sun roof. It can take up to 6 passengers, but has a little less leg room in the back 2 seats. Cars are not allowed in the old town "Gamla Stan" but I can arrange to park close by and we can walk in. Please be aware that there are plenty of cobbled stoned streets that can be uneven and sometimes a bit difficult to walk on. The transportation by private vehicle is at no charge.
