Hi! My name is Emil, and I would love to show you my perspective on Stockholm. My passion is in storytelling, and I would love to tell you the stories and facts of Stockholm that you have to know. Stockholm has a grand history, and you would like to hear some of it before you go home. We talk about how Stockholm grew to what it is, the history of Sweden and where the Stockholmers go today. Stockholm is a beautiful city to visit, thanks to the large amount of water and the light in the evening is it something special. That's why I love to live here and show it to other people. When I don't guide do I like to read and visit museums or go to the gym before I meet my friends at a local bar. My background is in the museum industry, and therefore do many of my tours include a museum or at least art of some kind. As a master of arts, I like to talk about public art as a way of telling you about Stockholm, and I do have a special tour of art in the city. I am also specialised in LGBTQ history and rainbow life today, and will gladly tell you about the queer Stockholm. During this tour we will visit different food-related places in Stockholm, but also talks about the architecture and history. Also, we will visit the island of Södermalm.
Emil was fantastic. He met us at the hotel and immediately took us to lunch for authentic Swedish food. The food was amazing. He was knowledgeable and able to answer all our questions on historical topics and Swedish politics. In old town he pointed out local authentic stores. He ended the tour at the Museum of Modern Art in here he works part time and was able to point out areas of interest that we would have missed. We highly recommend Emil.
Great foot tour of Stockholm.
Perfect way to spend my only day in Stockholm! We hit so many sites while tasting Swedish treats along the way. We also had a traditional lunch in the old city. Emil made the city come to life with his commentary. It was a nice mix of culinary and tourist attractions. We certainly got our steps in!
We meet at Östermalmshallen, a clasic food hall in Stockholm. After our visit there, we will walk through the area of Östermalm (Stockholm's upper east side) and look at the Jugend architecture. From there, we walk through the centre of Stockholm, passing the street food and over to the Origins of Stockholm Old Town. In the Old Town do we can see the traces of the ice age and the history of Stockholm, and have lunch at a restaurant that serves classical Swedish dishes ("svensk husmanskost"). After lunch, we visit the island of Södermalm, with Söderhallarna and end the tour with a Swedish tradition - fika (which normally is a hot beverage and a pastry).
