Foodies looking for real treat? You found it! Welcome to enjoy the private guided tour along the city, visiting the historic San Sebastian and including, as something unique, a meal at a gastronomic private cooking club. This tour starts with a nice walking city along the Old town in the morning, showing and buying seasonal products in the local market gathering with local people. After you'll learn how to cook them, while we taste "txakoli" white local wine, Rioja wine or local cider. Exclusive chance to feel the experience of being in a private cooking club gathering locals, tasting some typical Basque fresh & seasonal food and learning how to cook too!! (Note: Main rule of the cooking clubs in the origins, following the history of why those clubs were founded, men were only allowed to cook with exclusive access to the kitchen, women could watch, enjoy the meal, pour wine for all and be served, and of course, enjoy the experience, but they were Not allowed to work!!)
Iker is a gem You will not find a nicer, more knowledgeable Basque country guide. This tour went into the Pyrenees foothills to St Jean Pied a Port, the beginning of the Camino del Santiago, and three more villages/towns along the base of the first mountain of the Pyrenees (La Rhune). A range of experiences and a look at places only locals know about-- fabulous, and quite different scenery from the coastal tour..
Truly great and unique experience! If you truly want to experience the Basque culture and philosophy of life I recommend you book an experience with Iker. A Basque native, he was passionate about his culture, history,food and more. A truly immersive experience, we went to market, cooked a traditional meal(even with a grandma's recipe), and chatted and dined in one of the most historic gastronomy clubs in Donostia. I thank and appreciate Iker for treating me as a friend in his home, not just a tourist.
Our group of 8 had the MOST fun with Iker! We first enjoyed a town walking tour with a great mix of history & fun tales. We then visited the market to get food before entering the gastronomie club for wines, appetizers & a fabulous meal prepared by Iker! He had prepped some foods the day before, so we entered the club to a beautiful table, appetizers & lovely wines. We all SO enjoyed the day, local foods, his fresh tuna, but most especially charming Iker! All agreed it was a SPECIAL day! Def 5 stars!!

This may be the San Sebastián experience I speak of more than any other! A rare and unique invitation to Iker's Cooking Society/Club which was established more than 100 years ago. It's a brilliant concept. Very few visitors even know the existence of these cooperatives. We feel extremely fortunate to have been guests.
The time with Iker was one of the best parts of our stay in the Basque country. We learned so much about the area and the Basque people in our conversations. It felt as if a friend was sharing valuable tidbits, not lecturing us. The meal at the Men's club was the best.....great food and more fascinating conversations. Iker's tour was first rate. Thank you, Iker!
