My name is Gontxu, I was born in Donostia-San Sebastian in 1977. After my studies I left the city to travel a bit the world, then, I was living in several countries like Ireland, France, Iran, Mexico or Benin. I learned a bit about other cultures and towns around the world. After my experiences abroad, I decided to come back to San Sebastian and settled down in my native city for guiding and showing to visitors the magic of the region. I love nature and on my free time I love to go into the ocean for surfing or swimming and into the mountains for climbing or trekking. I am also passionate of history and culture and a good food lover, always ready for good tasting meal :-) I am looking forward to meeting you and transmit you the magic of our region, let's do it combining 3 Basque passions: gastronomy, culture and nature, I am sure we are going to have a great time together. - Wide experience guiding tourists in San Sebastian. - Middle Mountain Guide degree. - Experience living in other countries such a France, Ireland, Iran, Mexico or Benin. - 5 years Business administration degree. I do not have any restrictions in regard to my guiding, I can offer a full range of experiences

Did you know S. Sebastian . . . was a defensive city surrounded for such a big walls that nobody could conquer it until XVIII century? . . . used to be the Capital of Spain during summer months in XIX and XX century? . . . and has the bigger amount of Michelin stars per inhabitant in the world? Join me in this tour and let's discover together all the secrets of the city. Besides the fact I am a native (so a real local), I travelled the world for a while and even after that I chose S. Sebastian to settle down: I am passionate about this city so rich in history, nature, gastronomy and social life. A magical combo I want to show you! If you are interested in culture and history, in understanding how S. Sebastian changed through the years from one of the most impregnables fortress of Europe to the tourist resort and gastronomical hub that became now a days, I'll take you on a fascinating historical journey around the new and old city, describing the main sights and advising you on the best pintxos to try!

Gontxu provided a fascinating and entertaining tour of San Sebastián covering the key aspects of the city’s history, culture and day to day life. It was a perfect introduction and a great basis for our time exploring the city and its surroundings. Thank you, Gontxu.
Although it rained during most of our tour, we had a delightful time learning about the history of San Sebastián and seeing the sights. Gontxu was flexible with our itinerary to account for our group’s needs and interests which was much appreciated. We highly recommend this tour.
