Kaixo (Hi) ! I am a native of the Basque Country and since 2015, I am dedicated to making people who visit us happy, while enjoying our history, culture, sports and gastronomy, in the most local, sustainable and healthy way possible. I am not, the typical traditional tour guide, that they don't stop talking and only show you, the commercial touristic places. My goal is to be your local friend, to you can enjoy, the real lifestyle of the Basques and to can show you, what it is away from the tourist masses, where you will not arrive in your own. With me, you will not only see places, you will experiment like locals we like to do. So, you will be a lucky visitor, instead of being one tourist more. But I will be, just a person who will introduce you to this little paradise hidden in the world, for which I am more and more in love, because this land, people and culture they are unique in the world. The Basque Country is a magical place, where the mountain mixed with the sea gave the opportunity for one of the oldest civilization in the world, to still alive today, preserving its original language, and some of the most important traditions and customs. We will drive 50 minutes from San Sebastián, to go deep into the mountains, in the heart of the Basque Country, where I was lucky to be born and grow. While we enjoy a very easy and beautiful walk, we will visit two rural farm-houses that are dedicated to the artisanal elaboration of food and drinks. We will get to know their lifestyle closely and throughout the morning we will not stop tasting homemade products such as cheeses, bread, sausages, eggs, vegetables, fruits, honey, flowers, wine and cider among others. Having collected the best food, we will descend to my hometown, to enjoy the atmosphere of the street while having a wine in a special place. And finally, we will go back up the mountain, to cook and enjoy a good meal together, in my gastronomic society, without missing good wines.
What a great day we had with Julen, experiencing the local Basque hospitality in beautiful and natural surroundings. We visited a local winery and were treated to a wine tasting with accompaniments, enjoyed around the table in the farmer's kitchen. Then on to shopping and preparing a delicious meal which we all shared. A fantastic day out and Julen is so warm and welcoming. I highly recommend this experience
Still thinking about this tour. Amazing. Julen is friendly, engaging, knowledgeable and so proud to share his Basque heritage and country with the world. You will get to experience off the beaten path truly local basuqe way of life with him. Totally worth it. The food and beverage and the farmers / people met on the tour are all fantastic.

Julen is a rockstar!! He showed us so many things that we never would have found on our own. We LOVED that we got two little boat rides instead of driving around ;) He understood that we enjoyed time to explore on our own but also gave us tons of information. Lunch was incredible! On a family farm, up in the mountains, each course grown/made right there! We even brought home some top notch cheese. Cannot recommend Julen highly enough. Wish we were here longer for another tour with him.
We had the very best day with Julen exploring the hidden gems in the Basque county. Julen was kind enough to pick us up in Bilbao then leave us off at our hotel in San Sebastián saving us the challenge of moving from one city to another. Julen instantly transforms from you guide to your Basque friend proudly showing you artisan bakers, cheese makers and a traditional Basque lunch at a mens club. If you want a cultural immersion in Basque-Julen is your guy. Highly recommended.
We will enter, in the deep Basque country, in the province of Gipuzkoa, specifically in the Deba-Goiena Valley and the Aizkorri Aratz Natural Park. To enjoy different valleys and mountains around, discovering spectacular places and farmhouses. And also, we will go down the mountains, to enjoy the atmosphere of my village, before going again up the mountain again, to finish the day having lunch and relaxing our selves, before returning.

We will move in my private van what is a new Ford Transit, 2019 model, very spacious 8 seats plus driver. It has air conditioning and I always take care that it is very clean and that it smells good. I always try to bring drinks and some snacks and candys.
