I am a native of the Basque Country and since 2015, I am dedicated to making people who visit us happy, while enjoying our history, culture, sports and gastronomy, in the most local, sustainable and healthy way possible. I am not, the typical traditional tour guide, that they don't stop talking and only show you, the commercial touristic places. My goal is to be your local friend, to you can enjoy, the real lifestyle of the Basques and to can show you, what it is away from the tourist masses, where you will not arrive in your own. With me, you will not only see places, you will experiment like locals we like to do. So, you will be a lucky visitor, instead of being one tourist more. But I will be, just a person who will introduce you to this little paradise hidden in the world, for which I am more and more in love, because this land, people and culture they are unique in the world. The Basque Country is a magical place, where the mountain mixed with the sea gave the opportunity for one of the oldest civilization in the world, to still alive today, preserving its original language, and some of the most important traditions and customs. We will drive between the sea and the mountain, to start the day enjoying with a spectacular aerial view, to-distinguish the French part of the Spanish. After that, you will discover a spectacular fishing village, before cross the border by boat and continue exploring the best of the coast until arrive to Biarritz. Where we will enjoy a walk discovering the highlight and tasting typical seafood in the port, help with a local wine, before taking to the mountain. We will drive, to get to a secret restaurant that is located deep in the pure mountains and on the way, we will stop to enjoy a very beautiful village too. In this restaurant everything they offer is raised at home and you can choose between very typical mountain foods, such as trout with ham. After eat, we will take a small and very nice walk to discover the surroundings and on the way back, we will make a brief stop, to know a way to hunt pigeons that is over a thousand years old, and is still used today.
Julen is a tremendous tour guide. His tour was well thought out and organized. We got to interact with many of the locals in non-tourist areas which was a lot of fun. The drive into the Pyrenees and visit to a "secret" restaurant was one of the best experiences I have ever had on a tour.
Absolutely incredible - a major highlight of our trip! While San Sebastián is the showroom of the Basque region, there is SO much more to it that we never would have experienced without Julien. The costal & Mnt villages, the viewpoints & hills, an amazing market and incredible restaurant in the hills, a wonderful river to swim in. All of it was incredible. Julien's stories and context brought the region to life in a way we never could have on our own. 100% recommend!

I have hired guides around the world and Julen is the best. He showed us unique villages and out of the way places. He steered us to a great gathering of a music club and the fabulous celebration that followed. We experienced the Basque people enjoying their culture. Great fun. I give Julen 6 STARS. Do yourself a favor and hire this man for any "adventure you may want to take in Basque Country. You will not regret it.
We will start the day, enjoying the view of the Spanish and French border, separated by the sea and the beginning of the Pyrenees mountains, from the top of the first mountain of the Pyrenees call Jaizkibel. Then you will cross the border by boat after discover Hondarribia, the last Spanish town. I will drive to cross the border and I will pick up you again, in the port of Hendaye the first French town. Then you will see the best places of the coast, before arrive to Biarritz, where you will enjoy a walk. After, in the way to the secret restaurant located in a very pure area, call Baztan, we will make a brief stop in Zugarramurdi, a very pretty mountain village. After lunch we will enjoy the surroundings and we will take the beautiful road back, making a stop in the pure mountain village of Etxalar, to discover its tradition of more than thousand years of history.

We will move in my private van what is a new Ford Transit, 2019 model, very spacious 8 seats plus driver. It has air conditioning and I always take care that it is very clean and that it smells good. I always try to bring drinks and some snacks and candys.
