Kaixo! Hello! I'm a lucky guy born and bred in San Sebastian. I feel massively passionate about my city and I'll never lose my enthusiasm for exploring the Basque country and having the chance to share my favourite parts with you. The Basque Country is so special with it's unique food & wine scene. It's a huge part of my life with an ongoing interest & study of wines and I've been a member of one of the famous cooking societies for the last 20 years . Living here it's impossible to escape the rich culinary culture. The Great Outdoors is my other passion and as famous as San Sebastian is for the food the countryside and mountains are not to be overlooked. With a hugely unique and wide variety of hikes and trails. From coastal tracks, incredible old woodland and striking peaks. I'm extremely well travelled and have a fantastic understanding of how it is to be a tourist here and what makes a tour that extra special. Originally from a corporate background I know the right kind of professional and execute a high standard of tour on all levels. Maintaining a fun, friendly and relaxed vibe with one goal, that you have a fantastic, memorable day out. Since 2016 I have loved being a tour guide and look forward to more adventures, Hope to see you in San Sebastian very soon. Do you want to learn about the wine making process, drink lovely Rioja and enjoy the picturesque landscapes of this part of the world? I'll take you to a very special, four generation, family run Bodega where they'll show you the whole wine making process with a full tour. Then hit the relax button, it's the tasting session followed by traditional tapas. Next it's over to the eleventh century town of Laguardia to amble through the sun drenched cobbled streets visiting the hidden cellar caves full to the brim of the regions finest. Off down through the vines we'll stop off at a famed bodega and prepare to be wowed.
• I'll pick you up at your accomodation in San Sebastian and drive around 90 minutes, giving you an introduction of Rioja area and why conditions are optimal to grow grape vines. • Depending of the wineries visiting this day we will drive around the area, visiting Haro, Villabuena de Alava, Samaniego, Laguardia and Elciego (most of those villages are more than 600 years old and Laguardia even more than 1000 years!) • Full visit in a winery, tasting wine here and there, a bit of arquitecture (some of the wineries are really jewels, like Ysios in Laguardia or Marqués de Riscal in Elciego), and amazing tasty local meal • Head the road back to San Sebastian, that will take again around 90 minutes, enough time for a nice snooze!
