Kaixo! Hello! I'm a lucky guy born and bred in San Sebastian. I feel massively passionate about my city and I'll never lose my enthusiasm for exploring the Basque country and having the chance to share my favourite parts with you. The Basque Country is so special with it's unique food & wine scene. It's a huge part of my life with an ongoing interest & study of wines and I've been a member of one of the famous cooking societies for the last 20 years . Living here it's impossible to escape the rich culinary culture. The Great Outdoors is my other passion and as famous as San Sebastian is for the food the countryside and mountains are not to be overlooked. With a hugely unique and wide variety of hikes and trails. From coastal tracks, incredible old woodland and striking peaks. I'm extremely well travelled and have a fantastic understanding of how it is to be a tourist here and what makes a tour that extra special. Originally from a corporate background I know the right kind of professional and execute a high standard of tour on all levels. Maintaining a fun, friendly and relaxed vibe with one goal, that you have a fantastic, memorable day out. Since 2016 I have loved being a tour guide and look forward to more adventures, Hope to see you in San Sebastian very soon. This half day tour is perfect if you're on a short trip to San Sebastian and want to discover local life outside of the city. We'll visit two unique towns, explore the Corniche cliffs and try the native Txakoli wine with a tasting session. First stop Hondarribia, a beautiful, timeless town with one of the oldest and most authentic street scenes of the Basque Country. Geranium filled balconies, paradors & cobbled streets full of shady cafes. Next into vines to our favourite Txakoli bodega. Dial down into relax mode for a delicious tasting & tapas session whilst learning about why the grapes are grown like that, the atlantic influence & that sparkle. Then up to Jaizkibel for bonkers views of the big blue and nature on tap. We'll wind our way down to the prettiest of ports and take the water taxi across to the honey walls of San Juan. This small but loaded village with Victor Hugo, pirate tails, and old whaling stories.
I'll pick you up in San Sebastian to head to Hondarribia, last town on the coast of Spain before France. In Hondarribi we will visit the old town, where we could see Carlos V castle, around 1000 years old (yes, 1000!), San Juan Bautista church, and walk around the cobble stone streets, feeling like being in a knight's tale. Then down to Marina street, before the old fishermen's village, now a pedestrian street full of bars and restaurants. From here we will drive to the one and only txakoli winery (local white wine) in Hondarribi to taste some of their creations, and then drive to San Juan over the hill's road, with stunning sea views. We arrive in San Juan, a tiny coastal -one street only- village where we could have a drink before heading back home. You will have the option to stay here for lunch if you want, the restaurant will organize a taxi back when you are done (taxi is on your cost, 10 minutes ride, 15€) Let me know if you want me to book a restaurant and I'll arrange it (subject to availability)
