Let me introduce myself. My name is Susana and I've been guiding in Madrid, Toledo, Segovia, and Avila for over twenty years now as a full-time activity, and. . . . here I am, still on stage. I am happy to say that I have done over 500 tours only with ToursByLocals during the last 9 years. This hasn't been my only job ever, I have been teaching languages since. . . always, as this is the family business, and I got to know the tourism industry since I was very young as it was my early passion. Overview of your Madrid tour
TOLEDO From the pre-Roman times to the 21st Century. Mainly known as the "former capital of Spain". The Romans made of it an important city, which now we know - thanks to recent archeological research - is at least 4, 000 years old. After that, the barbarians made of it the capital of the Visigothic Kingdom. 100 years after the creation of Islam, it became a Muslim ruled city during 400 years. After that it became a border-line city till the 13th century and then a new period begins, the former main Mosque turns into a new Gothic cathedral finished one year after the discovery of America, in an amazingly way. MADRID After having visited Toledo, we'll drive through Madrid's main avenues and venues, including the monumental museum area, the posh quarters of the 19th century, the river area and its bridges, the bull ring, and the soccer stadium. We'll make stops for nice photos.
