Salamanca and Avila day trip from Madrid with tapas lunch

In this guided day trip from Madrid you will see two world heritage sites in a day; Salamanca and Avila. I will pick you up from you hotel. First we drive to the university town of Salamanca where we will do a walking tour of this university town. Here you can see the first university of Spain founded in 1218 AD. There you can appreciate the beautiful carvings of the Renaissance period. The most interesting thing in the university is to find the carving of a FROG. Its like a riddle that you will need to solve there !! Then we see some very interesting medieval architecture in the HOUSE OF THE SHELLS. Next is the very famous Plaza Mayor of Salamanca which was built in the 18th century to be the commercial hub of the city. There we will have a short break to enjoy some interesting tapas so that you can try the local gastronomical tradition of the city. After Salamanca we visit Avila where we stop at the view point and then do a walking tour around the medieval walls of the city.

Pick up from Hotel in Madrid. Drive to Salamanca. 2 hours (break on the way for breakfast) Walking tour of Salamanca with all the major sights of the city. The cathedral, university, house of the shells, Plaza Mayor and other important places. 3 TAPAS lunch included at local tapas places to experience the true Spanish way. Drive to Avila. (1 hours) Stop at the viewpoint to see the panoramic view of the walled city of Avila. Walking tour of the historical quarter of Avila. During the walking tours you see the some very old Romanesque architecture and the monumental gates of the walls of Avila. We also visit the Plaza Mayor of Avila which in the right centre of the walled city. Then we drive back to the Madrid and I drop you at the your hotel.
